Both of mine are in a different position and I am sure I have read somewhere that there is a position. Thanks Yep , your ocd .......really ? . What if you dont want the window right up or down, ha...

Re: Auto box changing up too soon
That cable between the slushbox and the throttle may be part of the issue . Its job is to tell the trans how much throttle is being applied . When you plant the boot the cable is pulled and this tells the trans to kick down for acceleration . If the cable is adjusted to long the trans will think the...

Re: 390 holley
Well I would have thought a 390 would be about bang on for a big valved cammed essex.......even a stock essex would be ok . I did the figures ( some formula for sizing carbs ) and a 390 holley came out a just tad to small for a 3.5L rover V8. You can get ( could get ?) a 390 double pumper mech sec w...

IMG_20220514_0001.jpg About 1970 , Dianne's father worked for Kens Panelbeating ( the truck ) and part of the job was accident/breakdown recovery and this was an on the job photo taken ( in all probability ) because of the car on the trailer . Re: Auto box changing up too soon
Hi, I don't have automatic gearbox, so just guessing. It looks to me that gearbox "don't know" about position of throttle pedal. There should be some cable or linkage from throttle lever on carburetor to gearbox, right? Isn't this broken or badly set or anything? But it's probably long sh...

390 holley
After Wayne's comments in the big hesitation thread I thought a bit of opinion wouldnt go amiss here :D Initially ( like 30 years ago ) I became under the impression that the holley was a cure all for re-powers and mods to various engines ......they have even been fitted to straight 6's and 4's........

Re: Big hesitation.
I have found 3 holley 390's now that have had the wrong accelerator pump diaphragm assy fitted. The difference being the length of the linkage rod . These may have been part of an incorrect overhaul kit but whatever it sure gave problems getting the thing to run right.

Hi , good on you for having a go . Oh , I dunno ....over confidence , tunnel vision
. When my Uncle said he had issues with the struts I ASSUMED ( yeah ,I know ) that he meant electrical ( coz the wipers and heater were duff ) not that he had had the struts re-gassed before.

Re: SGS Engineering Re-gassing
I have fitted a bit of rubber concertina hose with a gromet sorta thing on one end(off a dishwasher ) ,about 3/8" in dia that goes from under (over ) the rear of the hood lining and into a hole in the top of the hatch . I then re-routed the 2 wires that normally attach to the bottom of the stru...

Re: SGS Engineering Re-gassing
I guess it depends on how the seals are retained . Some times the fit the seal and then roll the end of the tube over, there must be a limit as to how many times you could do that before it becomes an issue .
