Re: Unregistered 280
Cheers Paul - I tend to lurk from time to time! Yes, that's right, there were. Bizarre jealously/resentment perhaps. Apart from anything else, it completely ignores the fact that the owner was not the person that decided not to register it. Shots fired at the messenger type scenario. Should you happ...

Re: Unregistered 280
Hi Paul, I know the car and the owner too. I have a recollection that it is a TT conversion but that might be a brain fart. I don't know if it's gospel, but I heard that the original intended buyer (not the current owner) rejected the car after the bonnet was damaged prior to the car being registere...

Re: Leaf spring shackles
If you want new ones, I would go with Martin. It's a matter for each owner, but when I changed mine 4 years ago I got a set of reconditioned and coated ones from a scrapyard/breaker yard. £10 the pair like new. They were still like new when I was underneath the car last weekend cleaning up and rust ...

I had this issue a while back, and we rebuilt the relay. I'm no expert to explain it but I'll try to remember to put before and after photos up when I'm on the computer this week as an idea for repair.

Re: Gearbox tunnel foam pad
I'd suggest going to your nearest furniture upholsterer shop and asking for an off cut of foam. I did that with mine, and they gave it to me for free. Shaved it down with a Stanley knife and it fits like a glove.

Beautiful Des. It's better than when it rolled off the line. Surely it will be dry days only for it now, and even then a quick brush up when you get home....

Another voice for Waxoyl/protection if you intend to drive it daily (and even if not IMO, unless you want to see the paint). If there's any flaky stuff underneath, carefully brush off first. Will it be concours standard afterwards? Absolutely not. Will your clothes, ears, hair etc be utterly filthy ...

Re: Car storage
I think it's down to individual circumstances and capabilities. I keep mine garaged, and I never take it out in snow/ice due to salt. I don't have the kit, facilities or space to clean the underside afterwards and it would suffer after a while without doing that. I also don't have the money to get i...

Headlining on my 2.8 is dark grey, but I don't know if it was an option on any model.

Re: Brakes pulling to the side
Yep, I had this on my 2.8. It was there when I bought it. Lived with it for a couple of years by doing the kind of things already suggested, which minimised it. Some say that Capris have an inherent issue that lead them to pull. My mechanic said none of his 3 ever did. The only thing that fixed it f...

Re: Edd China Capri
In fact, just confirmed by my Dad who's S plate Mk2 3.0S required welding at 3 years old! Shocking, but I suppose a lot depends on the usual factors of how the car was used and cared for, and whether it was garaged or not. Andrew. Undoubtedly Andrew. He was, and still is, meticulous in caring for h...

Not many people around who would have the guts to use a 3.0S as a fun daily driver. But no reason why not, full credit to you if you achieve it. Hope you find one :) I would personally love to, if my wallet could afford all the fuel  I'd fear the bodywork/welding bill after a couple of standar...

Re: Mk3 " chromed plastic"
I'm showing huge amounts of ignorance here, particularly as it sounds like you're doing concours, but is there not some way of chrome painting and applying a transparent laminate/vinyl wrap type cover so that you have the look with protection for the finish?
