Here's a story about another £75K Capri. I might get myself one of those "RS1300"s... https://www.msn.com/en-gb/cars/news/buyer-forks-out-almost-75k-for-a-ford-capri-one-of-a-kind-1972-rs1300-model-described-as-the-holy-grail-sells-for-world-record-price-at-auction/ar-AAYHC5L?ocid=ms...

Re: Handbrake gaiter question
I will see if mine is there or missing. You can just make out the location of the pop stud in this photo: https://i.postimg.cc/HkTm6wv8/110-Interior-70-Centre-Console-Handbrake-Gaiter-and-Gearknob.jpg As long as your gaiter isn't torn there, you should be able to fit a replacement in the same place...

Re: Handbrake gaiter question
Hi Mark,
The one in my car has got a little pop stud fastener that closes up the opening. That secures it around a ridge on the edge of the handbrake hand grip.

I thought you could tell because the sunvisor with the vanity mirror would always be left down.

Re: 2.8 injection engine re build
How much coolant are you loosing? On my 2.8, I was continually topping up to the top of the level indicator inside the degas tank. However, I found that if I left it, the level dropped to maybe 5-10mm below the max and then didn't ever drop any further. It seemed to be happy enough with that amount ...

Re: How do you find out the year your car was manufactured
I’m going to contact DVLA and see what documentation they will need because I’m hoping that if I can get everything in place, I should be able to get free road tax from January 2024. In your situation, I don't think you will need documentation as that only really applies if a car was built at least...

Re: How do you find out the year your car was manufactured
When this subject came up previously, I believe it was discovered that a car doesn't become eligible for free tax until the January after it's 40th anniversary. If your car was manufactured in '82 you can enjoy free tax from January 2023. However, I think the DVLA require more proof than Burton's we...

£1200 is quite reasonable for that !
Seriously though, I suppose if somebody has their own bodyshop and doesn't factor in their own labour costs, it would be worth restoring the Sierra.
It's quite an eye-opener as to what can happen if corrosion isn't attended to early on.

New guidelines published under the Laziness Act 2020 state you must provide a link to the thing you wish to discuss, in order to prevent undue wear and tear on fingers and keyboards. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165498768209?hash=item26887ecb51:g:HCsAAOSwK7Jimjh9 There's another £75K 2.8 for sa...

Re: Decal and badge
Are you talking about the bonnet and side stripes? It would be a heck of a job measuring all of those!
If you mean the bootlid decal, would it be the same "Capri 1.6" or "Capri 2.0" as on other models?

Re: bulb types
Sorry Mark, I can't remember off hand and there's no mention of that bulb in the Haynes manual. The clock ones are 1.2W, I would guess that the heater panel one would be the same?
