Hi Dan,
If you go on to the CCI website there is a link to enter into a draw to win a copy of the book.

Re: New Car Programme on TV Soon

Apparently the Lotus Cortina with 18000 miles and original paintwork, sold for 65000 dollars (around £50500) in this 2013 episode.... I wonder what the Cortina would sell for now, assuming that it's in the same condition as in the show? I didn't see this episode, but I did remember to watch the Whe...

Re: MK3 Headlamp washers

To wire up the headlight washers so they only work when the headlights are on and the windscreen washers are operated, you need to wire up a standard 4 pin relay. Instead of using a permanent live for pin 30, use a feed that is only live when the headlights are on. Ideally, this feed should have an ...

Not bad for a restored item, but that was a bit to much for me.

Re: Best exhaust system

:agree: not much room for error....Luckily I had the exhaust off cuts to measure, I would have been buggered without them :? I used calipers to check the bottom hose, so my measurement should be accurate. Otherwise, as you say, it could involve a bit of guesswork. I've just bought six black ones fo...

Re: Best exhaust system

I will probably use one on the bottom rad pipe next time I change the coolant, just need to find out the required size beforehand.... 42mm O.D , Andy. :D One thing that strikes me about these clamps is that they have a much smaller operating range than traditional hose clamps. The old style clamp f...

Re: Project Boot Resto - UPDATE 12/9/2018

You get a 'feel' for how tight they should be though, I'm sure most on here will know how much to tighten, and most likely just by feel would get it within the torque range which Andrew mentioned. I didn't even know what the required torque setting for the wheelnuts was until I looked it up for my ...

It makes you wonder why cars don't have centre knock-offs to fasten the wheels anymore. The thread direction was different each side so they won't come undone while driving.

Re: Project Boot Resto - UPDATE 12/9/2018

For years I was doing the wheel nuts far too tight, to the stage of standing on the wheel brace to loosen  Older and wiser :D Tightening them until you hear that 'cracking' noise? According to the Haynes manual, the wheelnuts on the 2.8 should be tightened 63-85 lb/ft. That seems like quite a ...
