Re: How Much!!

It would be interesting to know the back story behind this car. Obviously it's been bought from new with the intention of not using it, but who would do that?
I'd also love to know how much the dealer paid for it!

Re: How Much!!

How come the Escort is pretty much unusable then? No petrol in it? :) The seller states that it is "purely an ornament to be showcased or the missing piece of a jigsaw puzzle in a very high end collection". To a certain extent, I have to agree with that. I can't see somebody spending near...

Re: Must be summer...

See the replies to your other thread about the horn stalk. As Andy says, try Martin for the other parts. It's worth me mentioning that the bonnet lip trim seems to be hard to find in decent condition, but that may not worry you as I'm guessing you'll be repainting it to match your paintwork. However...

Re: unleaded fuel

Hi Jimmy, If you've got heads with hardened valve seats you can use unleaded without an additive. If you've got standard heads, opinions vary on whether to use an additive with regular unleaded, or not bother with additives and use the money you will save to have your heads modified. Personally, I u...

Re: Wanted: mk3 horn stalk

Hi Daisy,
These are being reproduced now. A new repro item might be a better option than a 30+ years old secondhand part. Try Martin at Caprigear or, failing that, CCI have them in stock.

Re: Any info

Hi Jimmy, Welcome to the forum! :welcome: You can use the form V888 to write to the DVLA requesting details of previous owners. You can then write to those previous owners to find out more history about your car. A few forum members have done this and have received some positive responses from previ...

Re: 6x4 front door speakers

Hi Jason,
That's a great find, thanks for posting the details.
Those speakers seem to be just what we've been looking for, and with a terrific saving over the American speakers to boot.

I agree. So many of these cars with low mileage seem, conveniently, to be missing service records/history to comprehensively back up the mileage claims.

Re: Nice eBay 2.8i

I'm sure I have read on a webpage about all of the colour combinations for the 2.8 and the relevant colour stripes that were standard issue on those colours. However, I can't seem to find it anywhere, can anybody provide a link? Better still, can anybody make up a list?

Here's a photo from the Ford Cars brochure of August 1983 showing silver (or grey?) over red stripes on a Caspian blue over strato silver 2.8.

Both cars for sale look superb, by the way!

That interior is incredible Mel. Well done!
It's nowhere as near as stunning as yours, but here's one photo of my interior.

Re: Wanted! S/S exhaust! Possible janspeed!

I would love a stainless exhaust like the CCI one The CCI exhaust is a mild steel system, it is not stainless. I do like the look of the black painted sysyem with chrome tips that the CCI/ Sportex systems have, and they do sound nice. I notice that CCI can supply a twin exhaust system for the pinto...

Re: How Much!!

IMO, it's not good for any car to do that little mileage in 15 years. :agree: It wouldn't have done the car much good. It only takes one car to sell at a high price and that's it, similar cars are then priced out of reach of most enthusiasts!! On the back of this, parts become extortionate too :rol...

Re: How Much!!

I've only just noticed that the dealer even states that the car is "pretty much unusable" and only suitable for a high-end collection. It's only covered 17 miles in 15 years. Thinking about it, yes nearly £100K is silly, but is £70-£75K really that unrealistic for some collectors to pay? R...
