Leaking brake fluid

So the 2.0 S still seems to be suffering from a leaky brake fluid reservoir. Over a long period of time fluid will leak out from between the rubber seals in the master cylinder and the plastic reservoir, eventually resulting in my brake fluid getting so low the light on the dash came on the other da...

Re: Capri on This Is England '90

Hi All, While watching the One Show, I spotted a rather nice Capri Mk1 shown in a scene from Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. lFLpwRMS00g It's always nice to catch an unexpected glimpse of a Capri on the telly. :D Andrew. As someone who does roller derby, that was some fine skating going on there, impress...

Re: Soooo

Hmm, i did not know you could change gear like that, i'll try to remember that next time thanks, but hopefully there wont be a next time! Fitted the new cable from Burtons today, fitted like a charm apart from the hook that attaches to the pedal itself. The hook has a small hole which a piece of met...

Re: Soooo

Who knows how to change a clutch cable? Mine broke on the exact same stretch of road where my throttle cable snapped a few months ago, the night ended on the back of a breakdown truck then too. Go figure. My life. Why did you go home in a breakdown truck? Why didn't you drive it home? You mean when...

Re: My first capri, A-REG 2.0 S restoration

Here's what I'm planning and hoping to achieve by painting the spoiler with some plastidip. It's a similar material as the turbo tail. http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=109898 I'm not using the leatherique stuff like this guy did as the surface is already perfectly smooth, but I'm hoping to achie...

Re: My first capri, A-REG 2.0 S restoration

I've been making very slow progress. I have both of the tail fins fully stripped of all that nasty old paint. The rubber surface underneath is in perfect condition, though because I've used a DA sander to get all the paint off I'm afraid I've maybe stripped off a layer of protection so once I'm done...

Can you advise me on which length I'd need please? The one from Burton is 110cm long. Or can you supply me with the correct part instead?

Clutch cable, is this the correct part?

I need a new clutch cable as my old one has snapped, I'm assuming they're all the same regardless of which gearbox I have? Just making sure I'm ordering the right part as I can't afford to wait for it to arrive only to have the wrong part as it's my only car and I use it daily and have no other way ...

Re: 205/60r13 tyres

These insane prices are the reason why next time I need new tyres I'll just be upgrading the rims to 15" at the same time. Tyres are much more plentiful in that size and waaay cheaper too. Screw these old sizes that not a single tyre shop can supply, and screw online retailers like Oponeo and M...

Re: Paint problems? I give up!

I'd offer to help as i'm fairly local but i really dont have the facilities to do spray jobs to the standards i'd be happy with anymore, plus poor mental health and such i'm really not in a good place to deal with any kind of stress right now. Sorry.

Re: Major Cock up

I always mix 2k to 4:1 and its dry within 10 minutes (at least dry enough to de-mask), rock hard for rubbing down the next day. I wonder why yours was different?
Still its only paint, i know its not the point but it can always be stripped down and done again.

Re: Tickover delivery

I agree their prices for postage, as well as CCI are exorbitant to say the least, and things haven't got that much more expensive, especially when other people seem to manage it perfectly fine for less and offer better options and services. Like the OP said i think its just a case of stubbornness an...

When was this show held? I knew nothing about it and only live 15 minutes or so away.

Great photos though, wish i had known about it i probably would have gone myself.

Never heard of someone describe the A127 as a brilliant stretch of road before though.

Re: Front grill

If you mean the mesh grille that had FORD written on, they are from the Mk2 cars ('74-'78) and then all the Mk3 cars ('78-87) had the plastic grill with the ford badge on the front You can put a Mk2 grille on a mk3 car as the screw-holes are in the same place and it is quite a common change. In fac...

Re: Dont use your Capri all year round, they are too delicate!

I never really see the point in not taking a car out in the rain? I thought the paint was waterproof?? I just like driving it too much to care about the weather :) Yep, the paint is water proof, so is all the underseal that people spend fortunes and huge amounts of time applying to prevent rust. :l...

Re: Dont use your Capri all year round, they are too delicate!

One thing I remember in my old Capri was when that long nose was waxed and it rained I would be driving at say 50mph and when you started to slow down to about 25moh the water sitting on the bonnet would spray on to the windscreen . This happens to me all the time and always slightly surprises me l...
