Re: Door card removal / fixing new door mirror

You do realise that Australia and New Zealand ( where I am from ) are not the same country ....I am thinking this was a miss-aimed jibe at me (😁) , otherwise I dont get the Australian connection . I suspect it was more just a simple antipodal generalisation. Over here we tend to say anything upside...

Re: Door card removal / fixing new door mirror

Thanks Noel

Managed to sort it with your advice, but getting to the nuts seemed way more of a faff than it needed to be due to the awkward angle to get to the bolts through the access holes :banghead:

Door card removal / fixing new door mirror

Has anyone previously removed the door card from their Capri? Is it fairly straightforward? I’ve removed the bits off of the door card itself like the grab handle etc , I’m assuming this is the only way to access the other side of the door where the door mirror bolts in/attaches? As I’ve got the new...

Leaded fuel

https://fb.watch/85pw8eW-aZ/ I didn’t know places could sell 4 star leaded fuel but this dealership is advertising it? The post is from a year ago but assuming it’s still doing it! Edit: Just messaged the dealership and they are still selling leaded fuel, if anyone lives in reasonable distance and f...

Re: B54ODX- my mk3 laser

Gumtree is a good one to watch as well I always find slightly dodgy looking sales ads end up there too, for whatever reason. Also knocking the doors of the roads nearby to where it was stolen from to see if anyone has any Ring Camera footage or may have been driving home at the time with a dash cam ...

Is this the one with the video clip of a van trailering it away? Sorry to hear your car has been taken mate, absolute nightmare scenario for any of us and especially with the work you’ve put into it. Hope the Police are being helpful with this - I did share some of the posts on Facebook if this is t...

Lovely Car. I followed this one on ebay I think. Nice to see its on here and well done on the price! I prefer the L spec Capris, I really like that guy on youtube "Fast Rust" who has one pretty much exactly like yours. Apart from the lowly 1.6 engines I prefer the L models too - I’ve neve...

Stunning capri mate looks very well looked after / maintained.

Good luck with the sale - well above what I can afford but if I had it I’d buy it!

Brake shoes / drums size

Hey guys

Just wondering what size brake shoes/drums am I looking for to replace what’s likely the original set up on my 1980 1.6 L?

I’ve seen on eBay you can get 8” and 9” but not sure which is standard on my car (I just want to replace with new bits like for like)

Thanks

Re: 1980 Ford Capri L 1.6

With the brakes personally I'd say save your money - I have a 1.6 that after several mods is now 105+bhp (standard is about 69-72 when new) and I'm still on the original brakes and there are no issues. The 2.0 I have is also still on original brakes and that's probably around the same bhp so unless...

Never been a fan of the Cabaret’s but that is good money for its condition. I had this on watch when he had it listed for auction - sold for £3200 but reserve was not met!

Engine bay looks tidy and looked after.

Re: 1980 Ford Capri L 1.6

Hoping to make a start on recommissioning the engine this weekend, it does run as it is but given it’s been sat up since 2005. I’m just going to give it a proper service then see how she’s really running to gauge how good the 1.6 engine still is. Planning to change the oil, oil filter, spark plugs, ...

Re: VIN Query

Before I bought the car I did one of those online vehicle ref checks you can pay for, to get a detailed report regarding being written off, stolen etc.. Anyway I didn’t realise they also have a VIN check you can submit the VIN into and it will tell you whether the Reg plate matches the VIN on DVLA r...
