Re: capri 1.6GL bareshell rebuild
It's not enthusiasm I have lost as much as time. I have so little now with my job being so busy. I am not getting the time to commit to it that it needs. One day maybe but it's just not the right season. I have tried but it is time to move on.

Re: capri 1.6GL bareshell rebuild
Well this is it. I have come to the very sad decision to sell. I have enjoyed my time but I don't have enough of it to dedicate to this project. I am busier than ever and can no longer justify keeping it. Any enquiry welcome and I will be advertising it as soon as I possibly can. Thanks all for your...

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback
Looking good. It's a good example of how what looks like might be simple job turns into full on fabrication of new parts. Those parts soon add up if you got to the likes of steel express. Keep going then I'm keen to see repairs on these.

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback
Welcome b@fink having read this I am really looking forward to seeing this. I love pic heavy threads. I also love the fact that the car has stayed with you over the years. Great to see another car making it's way back onto the road.

Re: capri 1.6GL bareshell rebuild
That does look great! When I sprayed mine I left all the adjusters in place so I knew that the lights were pointing the right way and wouldn't need adjusting again, but does mean that all my plastic bits are caked in paint - yours looks much nicer with the clean plastic Thanks yeah I decided that e...

Re: capri 1.6GL bareshell rebuild
Back in the game doing the headlamp units. They dont look too bad but the lamps themselves are pretty poor now with some corrosion damage inside and damage to the glass so they are on the purchase list. The galvanised plate is reasonably well maintained but I'm in two minds whether to paint it or no...

Re: New fuel implications for pinto engine and fuel system
I remember back in the 80s when 4 star was going to be removed the worry of not able to get petrol for our cars but ever since we have had super unleaded what I have always used in my Capri . I only once ever found a service station on the M4 last year that never had any so filled up with £10 worth...

Re: Rear side glass opener
Can anyone tell me how to remove the rear openers from the glass? The opposite side to the image has very badly corroded and I would like to swap it out but i cannot see how to remove it from the glass. It unscrews Ian. You need to prise the cap off the outside as I recall and there is a screw unde...

https://i.postimg.cc/ZqcgJFgt/20200621-215805.jpg quick image uploader Not perfect but given I didnt have the original to work from for size I am relatively happy with how it's looking I just need to complete the folds for the head lamp bowl. I will probably revisit it but for now I'm happy to walk...

New fuel implications for pinto engine and fuel system
I was just wondering if anyone has looked into the full implications of what the higher ethanol fuel will have on the pinto or the fuel system for it? I know fuel lines will need to be updated to withstand it and I'm guessing some gaskets but do we know a comprehensive list yet? I'm thinking about i...

Re: capri 1.6GL bareshell rebuild
That looks good. A quick tip somebody showed me when making a strengthening bead by hand like you have is to grind away part of the end of a hollow punch so it’s half round and use that to finish the ends of the bead. It works quite well! Yes that's a good call. I must admit after I looked at the p...

Front of nearside front wing by headlamp bowl
Ok so I had a bit of rust on the piece at the front of the wing on the inside attached to the headlamp. I have removed it but need to see what a good piece looks like. I am of the impression there is a drainage hole at the top. https://i.postimg.cc/svKqPSdG/20200618-181842.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/y...
