Re: Clonk while turning wheel

Thanks for the reply guys. I took some photos: https://i.imgur.com/SfUxdYe.jpg https://i.imgur.com/77uvIl9.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LUUX1bx.jpg https://i.imgur.com/X9Gk1Rs.jpg The springs seem in the same location as the grooves but are they set a bit too far back? With regards to the strut tops, in ...

Clonk while turning wheel

Hey guys. Last few times I have taken the car I get a massive clonk from the front of the car whilst reversing with the car on full lock (wheels turned to right looking from drivers seat). The car almost lifts and drops as it is doing it. Have read about the coil coming out of its cup? Could it be t...

Re: Rubber washer between tail light lense and screw?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply. So in effect there should be 3 washers then, two between backing plate and lense (The lights had two washers there when removed), and one between screw and lense?

Rubber washer between tail light lense and screw?

Hey guys, Just a quick one, replacing some bulbs in the rear lights and was wondering if there should be some sort of (rubber?) washer between the screw and the lense? I know there are meant to be washers between the lense and the backing plate but I'm not sure if there should be one between the scr...

A couple of bits

Hey guys, I'm after a couple of bits for my Capri, as seen in the pictures below. If anybody knows where I can get hold of some, preferably new, please let me know. I have tried doing a search but not sure of their actual names, so if anybody knows this that would be really helpful as well. https://...

Re: Best super glue on the market?

Finally got round to gluing the clip back together today. Used araldite crystal. Seems pretty solid but haven't tried it on the car yet. Had to do the gap by eye :?

Thanks Paul.

I got it off last time by accidentally whacking it but don't want to risk that this time around haha.

Wiper stalk tab removal

Hey guys, trying to get the tab off the wiper stalk as the spring popped out a while ago and I want to put it back as it has been sitting on my shelf for ages. I've been able to pull to the 'arms' of the tab up but it still won't budge...is there a knack for removing it. I don't want to force it as ...

Furry spark plug

Hi guys, I've recently been having a weird popping sensation around 2k revs and above but stops after about 3k. I've pulled the plugs and they all seem okay but the 3rd cylinder from front. The plug is 'furry' on one of the sides and did smell quite strongly of fuel and oil when I first pulled it, m...

Two half moon shapes, it's not one solid piece of plastic

Best super glue on the market?

Hey guys, Whats the best super glue on the market? The clip part of my radio fader knob has broken and previous attempts of gluing it back together have not gone well by the looks of it. Can anyone recommend a really good super glue which they have had experience with that will mean the fader knob w...

Re: Inner wing mudshields

The inner mud shields come with threaded holes that bolt through where the bracket is behind the wheels that secures the wing to the inner arch. The securing brackets need removing (can be a pig as the blts are usually rusted in) and then mudsheilds fit in and bolt in these holes. You will then nee...

Inner wing mudshields

Hey guys, I'm thinking of installing some inner wing mud shields on my '84 LS. Will I need to make holes in the wings to get the fixings for the mud shields or do the line up with current holes/clip on? Haven't looked at the inner wings in detail recently and have just had this fleeting thought, so ...

Re: A decent coil

Many thanks for all the replies guys. Much appreciated. Think I'm going to buy one of those Lucas coils, as Paul G has suggested, as a back up as I can pick one up easily from a nearby motor factors and can therefore easily return it if it plays up like the intermotor one. I'll run it for a bit to m...

A decent coil

Hey guys, can anyone recommend a decent new coil? Still running the original one and I'm currently anticipating it giving up the chase just like what happened to my buddy's car. I've tried Intermotor in the past...but they were crap and caused me a ton of trouble. Are there any other brands that are...
