Re: Queen Square April 2018

Fantastic as always Andrew! I think I'm going to make the effort to come down next month for my first Queens Square of the year! Thanks Danny. Does that mean that all went well with your recent MOT? If you do go along, I'll make it the first QS meet of the year with my Capri too! Andrew. I've not g...

Re: Radiator

Hi all. Im thinking of getting one of the aluminium radiator from ebay at £134, got to be a cheaper option than recoreing my old one. Just wondering if you did get one in the end. If so what is it like? Thanks in advance. Mine is great, I love it! I've had two now (first one got damaged so I had to...

Re: MK3 rear screen

I've wondered this before too. You can still get it done and you can even get a kit to do it yourself - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vehicle-Car-Security-Glass-Etching/dp/B00CD7YDVU I did my own on my Mk3 Escort around 1984/85 using a similar kit from the local motor factors. Thanks for this info guys,...

Re: MK3 rear screen

Quick side point, but since you kept your original obviously you've replaced the glass; did you get the reg re-etched onto the new glass? Can this even be done...??

(sorry for the minor hi-jack!)

Re: Postimage problems

I can only assume they have had to move their server as part of changing the website domain name and therefore none of the pictures have been saved or transferred across? Bit of a stab in the dark but seems like a possibility... Not sure if there really is a way around it if that is the case unless ...

Re: Car feels weird

I think people just like hating on lasers for some reason Those whom are snotty about lasers to my eyes seem to be people that like to modify, alter and bastardise their cars, removing the bumpers, fitting the wrong engine and lowering them so much that the sump scrapes the ground and the ride is s...

Re: No MOT.....

Perhaps we will see insurance companies using assessors in the event of a claim to ensure that MOT exempt cars are in roadworthy condition. Maybe they will even insist on cars being taken for an MOT in order to get insurance in the first place. Andrew. I would be interested to see if this does happ...

Re: Exhaust recommendations

I have a Sportex system on my 1.6; it's ok on most speed bumps but will scrape if there's anything in the boot. There's a particular set of speed bumps in Watford that always cause an awful scraping noise mind. I did have some problems last year as a rubber mount has deteriorated and as theres not ...

Re: Exhaust recommendations

The CCI kits are just sportex, I got my first sportex from ebay, second time around I just got a manifold from CCI and it had sportex written on it so... pretty straight conclusion there  I've had a few niggles with mine scraping on speed bumps or going up ramps in car parks that are too steep ...

Re: Road Tax Price

With flooded wheel wells I just drill a couple of 6mm holes in the lowest lying of the floor bungs. Any excess water will run out then and it won't get back in in normal driving with two small holes like that. Obviously finding the source of the leak is best and in my experience it is either the ta...

Re: 2.8 single leaf rear springs wanted

I got some from CCI, not sure if they are different to any of the others that are around like Burton etc. but may work out cheaper if you are a CCI member which is why I went for it

Re: Exhaust recommendations

Standard 2" kit from Sportex is decent and makes a nice noise without being deafening, I later upgraded to a 3" exit with no silencer so way louder... I can no longer drive quietly even if I wanted to but does sound the nuts

I think they're decent kits, have served me well!

Re: Road Tax Price

still can't fill in the pot holes in the roads causing me to have a broken spring last week. You might be able to claim the costs for that back Paul. Someone in the office tried to claim back for a puncture on the local roads and they demanded a picture of the pothole with a description of the loca...
