Hi Paul, good to see you back on here!
The level is a smidge over where it should be, but it has been like that for a long time so I figured it must be something else if it has been working fine for the last couple of years anyway...?

Re: Automatic Gearbox - Oil usage
Apologies for the thread resurrection (I seem to be an expert at this recently!!) But my auto box has recently started to occasionally take a few seconds to engage a gear and I just wondered how often the oil/filter needs changing? As per this thread I changed it all in August 2019 so it has had 3 a...

Re: Angle Grinders £10
Aldi sell the batteries too Danny, if your store doesn't have any in stock you could always get them from their website, Aldi sell online too. Never knew they had an online store to be honest! Will be checking there more often me-thinks!! Here's the link to the battery Danny https://www.aldi.co.uk/...

Re: Angle Grinders £10
Just thought I'd mention that Aldi have had cordless angle grinders in recently at just £9.99. Impossible to not buy at that price. In fact, after I tested/played with it for a while I was that impressed I bought another as a spare, from Aldi's website as they were the same price on there. Battery ...

Re: 3.0 Exhausts. Which ones?
Personally I hate fitting the exhaust  Ballache of a job in my experience laying rolling around in the dirt struggling on me todd! I think the use I get out of them may be in part to how they are used - obviously I use mine all year-round, rain, sleet, snow, grit, mud, etc. Either way, I wouldn...

Re: 3.0 Exhausts. Which ones?
My stainless cost about 900 all in and that was for a whole system including manifold I've gone through about 3 or 4 Sportex/CCI kits, add on the manifold for each (and at least one, possibly two extra manifolds on top because they also rusted away) so at £150 (Ish) for a system, and an extra £150 f...

Re: 3.0 Exhausts. Which ones?
I'm pretty sure Ashley, CCi and Sportex kits are all exactly the same
I was looking at this a while back as well and couldn't find anything else at all

Re: Indicator stalk
For reference, yes it does seem possible to repair (obviously not road tested yet but everything working as it should) and no it wasn't that difficult! Wish I had taken some pictures so show how easy it was in hindsight but will do that when I take the old spare stalk apart at some point in the fut...

Re: Indicator stalk
It almost certainly is 😂 I just know how much it annoys me having to read four different threads trying to find the info I need so thought it would be better to keep it all contained!! For reference, yes it does seem possible to repair (obviously not road tested yet but everything working as it shou...

Re: Indicator stalk
Rather than start a whole new thread.... Has anyone actually managed to successfully repair a stalk? One of mine have just gone and it would be so much easier if I could just repair the bloody thing!

Re: Camshaft lobes
Thanks for the replies gents, I figured it would probably be ok but just one of those moments of panic as I'd never noticed it before! I agree Hamish - fitting it from the back is a truly moronic thing to have done! I'm sure PaulG once told me that he had drilled a hole to get a cam out before....??...

Camshaft lobes
Evening all! Did one of the jobs I hate the most yesterday..... valve clearances 😭 Anyway, I managed it and got it all back together relatively quickly which I was happy with, but I noticed that a couple of the cam lobes looked a bit off ... They don't look like they have any wear and looks more lik...

Re: Tips and tricks
The contacts shouldn't need cleaning that often! You do have that protective rubber cover that protects the electrics underneath the headlight relay, don't you? Andrew. I do have the rubber cover yes - I always forget which car it is I've done it one last but it feels like I'm doing it all the time...

Tips and tricks
Does anyone have any tips and tricks for the fuses an be headlight relay at all? I'm bored of having to clean them up every few months with wet and dry so was going to take them out and clean them up properly with a dremel but wondered if there was anything else I could do or put on them to try and ...

Re: Overcooling
An easy way to tell would be to run it for a while and then take the rad cap off - if you don't get scalded it's not running warn enough, if you do get scalded and your skin starts peeling then it's fine

Re: Overcooling
I have noticed a similar issue with both of mine since fitting CoolEx ally rads - only because the air blowing around is no longer warm 😂 The fans on both are (obviously) broken, (I did fix them both during COVID but both now fucked again and can't be bothered taking it all out again) but they at le...
