The contacts shouldn't need cleaning that often! You do have that protective rubber cover that protects the electrics underneath the headlight relay, don't you? Andrew. An easy way to tell would be to run it for a while and then take the rad cap off - if you don't get scalded it's not running warn enough, if you do get scalded and your skin starts peeling then it's fine
