Re: Paint suggestions

So your going black not thinking of the same as the Capri ? Or even a wrap like Carbon fibre ? Both the cars have black mirrors currently so I just wanted to renew them to the same colour to be honest, they've been a bit scraped and scratched over the years from stones and hedges etc so just wanted...

Paint suggestions

Hi guys, Looking at respraying my wing mirrors back to the original black as they have a lot of scrapes and dings, wanted to see if anyone had a paint to recommend for it? Black I know, but its not Matt or gloss black so wanted to see if someone could help at all please! Also, I was in Halfords the ...

Re: Brake Drums

Looks good Nick, I was toying with the idea of painting mine black but stuck with silver, got to say I really like the black look! Might be tempted to go down that route next time they need a lick of paint

Re: Laser + GL

Thanks guys, always helps me get through the jobs with a little support! :) Nick I used the smooth Hammerite for the petrol tank, I've used the textured/cracked look finish for things I'll see like the radiator infill panel, but for things people won't see I've just gone for smooth black hammerite i...

Thanks Paul, I tried to get at it but kind of awkward to get to! I'm guessing I should be trying to get as much of the rust off before I start spraying it as well?

Re: Laser + GL

Just a quick update... borrowed the ramp at the weekend so managed to underseal the car with the white/clear waxoyl/hammerite spray stuff which worked a treat! Only difficult part is that it's really hard to tell where I have or haven't covered until it's dried, it's starting to turn more of a grey ...

Re: Automatic Capri slipping out of gear??

Mine used to this kinda thing occasionally - it was always due to low fluid levels. Have fun reading the level, and topping it up. Always used to burn my hand on the exhaust manifold, and spill fluid everywhere trying to get it in that stupid little dipstick hole. :swear:  haha thanks I look f...

Re: Automatic Capri slipping out of gear??

OK guys I will go and check the level again tomorrow on the dipstick. I just went out again quickly and it was definitely a noticeable few seconds compared to when I've driven it previously and I can barely notice the gear change because the time is so short. Thinking about it, itseems like its just...

Re: Brake shoes

I can't afford to take it anywhere right now as money is tight, my dad was the one who gave me the money for the shoes in the first place so I can't really take it to a garage. I have no clue if it's been converted to 2.8 ones, though I wouldn't have thought it was as everything on my car was facto...

Automatic Capri slipping out of gear??

Hey guys, odd one but I took the GL around for clock today, and when the car was in drive but I took my foot off the gas for a moment then went back on it again the car revved up without being in gear, before hearing a loud clunk and feeling the car jump again, clunking into gear... Seems like a str...

Re: Brake shoes

Have you been sent 1.6 ones in error? Potentially.... I wasn't aware that they were different but if that's the case then that's likely what's happened. The ad did specify that they were for a 2.0 though so not sure why they'd send the ones for a 1.6. eBay sellers for you I guess lol. When I bought...

Re: Car feels weird lol

If the new leafs have the bushes in then you wont need anything else, and you won't necessarily need new shackles but depends how your current shackles are, if you can get a new/refurbished set for a decent price it might be worth getting new shackles at the same time to keep everything nice and shi...

Here's what Burton have to say about unleaded fuel: Essex V6 Engines All engines are unsuitable for running on unleaded fuel. SOHC Pinto Engines All engines produced after 01/89 are suitable for use with unleaded fuel. For all other engines, an identification mark (adjacent to No 4 spark plug) must...

Re: Queen Square April 2018

Just have to go in June instead! :) Advance warning: Sadly, the June meet has also been relocated to a council car park. It's not the same if it isn't held in QS, so it's unlikely that I'll be going. Andrew. Frustrating to say the least, but it looks like my June has freed up a bit! If they ...
