Very helpful, thank you Tom!
Although I'm sure the paint shop will be less happy when I tell him 'it's just black mate'

A9 paint code
Afternoon all!
Car is back from welding and ready to head off for paint - my question is about the paint code -A9 on the VIN plate but is that a specific named colour or is it just metallic black??
Just want to make sure it matches everything else as best it can!
Cheers
Danny

 Welcome to the club Andrew  Thanks, Andy. It felt like it's been a long time coming and it feels great to be a member of the club. Mind you, I wouldn't be surprised if the HMRC adjust my tax code to compensate for it! Andrew. As an extensive landowner you must already be on the hi...

Re: Valve Seat Recession questions
I can't really recommend one, but I had loads of issues with a brand new Intermotor one, and as I researched it I discovered that others had issues with that make too. So I put the original Bosch one on and have had no issues since. So perhaps buy an original good one if you can. Checked the 3 I ha...

Fair enough, a technique I often use :xd: Sounds like a plan, good luck with it Danny. Just one thing, if the coil happened to be an Intermotor one, then they are known to be problematic. It was! Good to know Paul thanks - is there a decent one you'd recommend? I have a Lucas at the moment but the ...

Re: Valve Seat Recession questions
I was about to book it in but Phil at Capri Care has thrown me - he has said that he has never hardened any valve seats on any car he runs and never had an issue so doesn't think it is a necessary job to do and more often than not reckons that worn camshaft is more likely culprit for valves constan...

Re: Valve Seat Recession questions
I got a quote recently of £240+VAT from a company in MK to supply and fit the valve seats (all 4) - not including new valves if needed etc I was about to book it in but Phil at Capri Care has thrown me - he has said that he has never hardened any valve seats on any car he runs and never had an issue...

Re: Bigger main jets ??
If you think that's the case your best bet is probably a rolling road set up - did mine a few years back and paid about 100quid for a couple of hours.
Set the timing again before he started, tuned the fuel and changed the jets and has run a treat ever since
Cheers

Good spot, Major! It looks like the sunroof repair is years old though. I'd guess that a previous owner may have had one of those universal glass pop-up sunroofs fitted when they were all the rage in the 70s and 80s. Maybe a subsequent owner had a repair to revert it to standard spec and the result...

It's no more than an hour from me now as part of a collection. I like the idea of having a car collection, but who's got the time to maintain a fleet of classic Fords? It's surprising how long these things can take. Interesting thread Danny, looking forward to more updates!
