Re: Various issues

I will go out and take pictures of my carbs tomorrow to show where the screws are and some of the Haynes as well. Just realised it may be blanked off as the mix screw on one of mine is blanked off and isn't on the other. There will undoubtedly be someone who will be able to look at it, they are quit...

Re: To back up an argument

B reg was released August 84 and the Laser launched in June 84 so assume possible to have got one in those couple of months rather than wait?

Thanks a lot Jason, I think I have a version of that one, I'll have to check as there have been a few editions/revisions.
Are they much different to a Haynes manual?
Should I invest in one basically

Re: Various issues

Depending on what type of exhaust you have sportex have three options of back box, 2inch, 3inch and 3inch with no back box so it could be possible just to change that one end piece and make it quieter. Also, there is a lot of fiddling with sportex exhausts to make sure they don't knock on everything...

Re: Brakes

Took it out again yesterday for a longer drive and I think you are right Hamish. First 15 odd miles it worked absolutely fine. Parked up for an hour and got back in and the pedal was soft and went all the way to the floor but did still work, and then on the 15 mile drive back it got more firm to the...

Re: Brakes

biggest concern is making sure the cap it comes with is actually going to fit the master clyinder lid rather than then having imvest more money into another preasured lid. I`m really not trying to sell this thing :D :D but I can say for a fact the screw on cap is a perfect fit on Capri reservoir. a...

Re: Brakes

Thanks Paul, bleeding the brakes or changing the fluid is admittedly something I've never done on my 10yrs of ownership - the brakes have always been fine so I've left well enough alone! The Sealey kit does look good, but am wondering whether I can justify the cost of this is the first time I've bee...

Re: Brakes

Very annoyingly my GL has started doing this again - I replaced the master cylinder about 18 months ago as it failed the MOT on it, however I am now having the exact same issue. Brake pedal goes pretty much the whole way to the floor before it actually starts doing any braking. I have checked and th...

Re: Clanking noise

Having suffered many noises over the years I can attest to starting with valves

Otherwise my only other big noise was the bottom end letting go which was unfortunately a much bigger fix

Re: B215APU Capri 2.0 Laser

Do you have a link to the car or the reg so we know what one we are looking at? Prices are always up and down with cars - a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay so while I think my 1.6 may be worth £10k, if I tried to sell it at that price I doubt I'd get any interest £5.5k for a 2.0 doe...

As Paul suggested, a rebuild may be your best bet. Webcon sell kits for that and covers everything - we rebuilt mine at CRaP last year in a field

Re: Carburettor And Automatic Choke Help!

Hi, I have used Webcon before for new carbs and quality etc. Has been great, not sure they will have exactly what you want but worth a look. https://www.webcon.co.uk/products/c22-standard-weber-carburettors/ In terms of keeping things standard i would ask why bother changing your current one if you ...

Might be worth reaching out to Capri Care MK - he isn't far from Northampton and should be able to help you out

Re: Fuse 1 not working

I am quite glad I managed to figure out what the issue was, I'm more annoyed I couldn't then sort it myself properly to be honest! Think the biggest issue in my not sorting it was my ancient soldering iron - my dad had it since before I started school and then gifted it to me when he got a new one, ...

Re: What is this?! RAF Sculthorpe exploration

It is a shame when historical buildings have to come down . Down here ,since the Christchurch earthquake , the powers that be ( yep , them arseholes again ) are declaring various structures "unsafe " and are closing them down . Old churches are a classic case as we like to turn them into ...

Re: Fuse 1 not working

I m able to give an answer! After many hours of head scratching and getting more and more frustrated with it I took it to a local auto-electrician as I was getting nowhere. Turns out that it was reading 12V everywhere, but as soon as you tried to put the power through it the voltage dropped as it wa...

I've been wanting to do this for my S for a while but have always been put off by the insane cost people want for the material!
