Was a while back, don't worry about it, would still have needed three more people and wouldn't have been cheap!

Re: Janspeed Exhausts

Don't recall a Pinto system either :? I called Janspeed to ask if they could make them and said that they would only do it for orders of five or more, whether they realised I meant a pinto manifold or not I don't know! I'm still waiting for them to call me back with a price though  Jumping in...

Re: Fish net head rests

It’s getting harder to find somewhere who does a good job . :agree: JM. This is the guy that worked for Tickover a few years ago http://www.andysautobody.co.uk/ Just been looking at the website, looks like they do some good work! Found this link and a very impressive turnaround! http://www.andysaut...

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

That's a real shame, I'm sorry. I know how depressing it can be when something major goes wrong on your pride and joy that you've put so much work into. Still on the bright at least you have a spare Capri to use in the meantime? (You do have two don't you, or am I imagining that as well? XD) At lea...

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

Just to bring this to a conclusion, I managed to get the drum back on and checked the other side - the adjuster arm and pivot were the culprits as they were stuck in place and needed freeing up. After doing this all seems back to normal and the brake engage properly and the handbrake appears to be w...

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

Well! Paul G came over this morning just after 11 and left probably around 2pm so we were at it a fair while! Massive shout out to Paul for coming over and helping as well, can't thank him enough. First suspect was to tighten everything, checked and all ok. Second was to check the valve clearances, ...

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

I'm outside now and just taken the rocker cover off, but to be honest I haven't the faintest idea what I'm looking for. When I turn the engine, the cam turns and the followers with it, there is oil coming out of the spray bar when I turn it over with the king lead off which is a start I guess... The...

Re: Capri radio

I've got a Bluetooth radio in the glove box in both of mine as control it with a remote, much easier to piggyback the wires from the original from there and just drill a hole in the back of the glove box

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

Hi mate, With the engine idling/revving take one plug wire off at a time and see if the noise goes away or goes much quieter, if for example you remove number 1 cylinders plug wire and the noise goes away/quietens down then there is a very good chance the issue lies in that cylinder, it won't save ...

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

In the pictures Danny I can't see anything wrong and the reason your drum won't go back on is that the adjuster (the bit with the ridges) is set in the fully adjusted position and it is in the gap between this and the little round thing also with ridges underneath that you have to put the small scr...

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

Thanks for the quick responses guys, I know the exhaust is blowing a little bit under the car, I haven't noticed anything from the manifold but I could just be ingoring it - I give up on those bloody sportex things! :banghead: I'll have to start stripping it back and see if I can figure it out Cheers

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

Is your oil pressure ok ? Have you checked your valve collets are all in place I haven't taken the rocker off yet so not checked the valves but I did think/worry that could be the issue. The oil level is good, and the oil light goes off once started but I don't have a pressure gauge as it's only a ...

Horrible Engine knocking

To add to my list of problems, the engine on the GL seems to be making a horrible rattling or metal-on-metal kind of noise. I can't seem to find anything fouling another component or anything vibrating, but it only occurs at higher revs - when idle there is no strange sound... Hopefully the video be...

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

Yes with you on that Dan if something not broken then leave alone , something for nextime , trouble is once they get wet they get a rusty look straight away . That's exactly it, I tried it once before and Jesus heck were they stiff!! I gave up and took the car down the road to a garage with only on...

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

I did think about changing the springs but to be honest I struggled enough to get those springs back on when I took them off, and I can't imagine anything worse than having to fight for several hours to get new springs on!

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

This is how I've left them looking, so sort of back to normal, think I need to adjust the passenger side as well...? Also, on Paul's picture of the 'adjuster arm' there is a part that goes through both shoes, does it matter how tight/loose this part is in terms of making the handbrake tight? The bit...

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

You need to release the adjuster and push the shoes inwards. Using a small screwdriver put it between the adjuster and the round post on the lever and just twist the screwdriver a bit and the adjuster should release and pull the shoes inwards - if not twist the adjuster screw with one hand and push...
