Re: WANTED, wide 13" diameter tyres

Unfortunately I think this is part of the problem with trying to run13" wheels these days - not many companies still make 13" tyres because all the modern bullshit runs on minimum 15"

For example, it states on page 101 that the plastic side trims inside the boot "were always black"....
Perhaps grey is the new black?

Re: Seat Head Restraints

The GL seats are different, don't have a clip or anything like that - they slide up and down by pushing/pulling them in the desired direction but I can only guess that if you unscrew the headrest at the base it may come out?

Re: Capri Clock

I'm not sure if the clock in the GL is original, but if it is then that is a sweeping one and that was a 1981 build

Could the part numbers on the clocks be different for ticking/sweeping clocks?

Re: Electrical Fire

Finally!! After dropping the dash yet again and removing as much as I could -including the dash pods- to investigate the wiring, beyond the melty but I couldn't see anything untoward on any of the other circuits at all. After realising that the washer bottle was on fuse one, along with the clock, in...

Went to start the car again today and it started hissing pretty quickly Had to rush out to just changed cars at the time, but have just been out again to have a look and have discovered that the clock had stopped, put the key in and turned to posi...

Only if the weather is guaranteed to be sunny with zero chance of rain, my chosen route swept to perfection, a mass insect cull of the whole route and finally 'wax and polish stations' every 30 miles  Wayne Joking aside I went to a car show a couple of years ago and a car arrived under its own...

Re: Electrical Fire

After completing my investigations I believe that the pump was the problem... The wiring at both ends rus straight into the loom, which is totally undamaged However, a very rusty and 40+year old part shorting within itself seems to have been the issue. I have put it back together and started the car...

Blimey, glad it wasnt worse. Can't help with the fault though as electrics to me are an alien world of dark magic. :agree: Electrics are alien to me as well, should it have not blown a fuse before it got to the stage of fire/burning? Wayne That's exactly what I thought fuses were for as well! Blood...

Electrical Fire

Ok so today's newest issue! I dropped the dash in the GL over the weekend to repair the speaker in the dash that had stopped working. Turns out it was the speaker wires so I ran new wires to the radio in the glovebox and problem solved. The mounts I'd expoy-ed on there had come off and I couldn't be...

Re: Odd electrical gremlin

I've had the issue of the fuel and temp gauges reading full before, I gave the fuse board a clean up and haven't had it since I also remember taking the car to an auto electrician many moons ago for a different problem that I couldn't solve, took him ten minutes and said I had done everything by che...

Re: 1986 2.0 Laser Brake Servo

Peter previously mentioned that a 2.8 servo from a Granada was a possible swap - maybe the servo is an option from a granny?

Otherwise as others have said, it is a ballache to find!

Cheers
