Re: Torque Converter

I'd be willing to pick that up for your Danny if it helps, not too far away. (for nothing of course)

Obviously we would then have to organise a courier to get it to you, not sure how much they would charge?

But it is an option if you wish to look into that.

Re: Spot the difference

Bit of a mission really Paul. I'm not a fan of constant cleaning and so last year when the 2.8 was off the road until mid summer it got really dirty from dust that blows from the nearby farm and spiders and other wildlife that used it as a toilet. When I eventually washed it the paint looked pretty...

Re: Weber 32/36 choke.

So they are sticking then instead of being loose and free. Could be crud in the linkages, perhaps spray with WD-40 to see if it loosens them up at all. Or failing that could be crud in the bimetallic spring housing or the spring itself is a problem. You would have to open the housing up and see what...

the flaps will not open unless they are given a helping hand.

I have tried that but they still stay open.
So, are the choke flaps stuck open or stuck closed? Or are they that stiff that they will only work if you push them with your fingers?

:agree: Paul.
It's probably because your average person doesn't think or consider their actions.
Fellow club members and other classic car owners would do the same though. I have a lot of respect for other people's cars and would never even consider doing that.

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

As the pistons go in, the shoes go in with it. So, wonder what is stopping that from happening then?

The Car Years, Tuesday on ITV4 at 8.00 and 8.30 https://classicsworld.co.uk/news/the-car-years-on-itv4/
Hate it when people sit or lean on cars! For some reason mine always seemed to attract that at shows, was forever shouting at people to stop it, used to think it was because it's red.

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

Yes it doesn't seem like a school boy error. Not like when I just couldn't get my drums off, with the handbrake on :)

We all really need to know just what it is that's not right though! Can't help thinking that the cylinder pistons should be further in though.

shows up the dust more than any other colour.
Small dents too, they really catch the light on a black car. It is a great Capri colour though.

I'm interested to know Peter, what product(s) and method you used for that.

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

When it's all correct, they do slip on very easily, it's not like it's only just, so something just isn't right, obviously. Sorry for the lack of words of wisdom!

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

That's a good point by Tom actually, if the handbrake cable is too tight it will almost be like the handbrake is on while you are trying to put the drums back on.

Re: Who Remembers?

We never had one of those, but yes all the mod cons now make life a lot easier, but are we better off for it? In some instances certainly so but we are inundated now with products marketed in such a way that we feel we should have them, but don't really need them. I'm close to taking a step back fro...

Re: Waterless Wash & Wax Products

Excellent, hope you like it Andy :) Would be interested to see your review. Just gave the Focus a clean with this, and it's equally as good as the other 2 sprays I use. Smells nice too :D I would happily use this on the Capri as and when I need to. At this price it's worth buying a few eveytime the...

Cycled over to my local Aldi last night and they had it so grabbed a couple of bottles. No micro fibre clothes at home so that's next on the list

Previously you got a micro fibre cloth with it, cutbacks I guess!
