Re: Dislok

Another vote for Disklok here, the small size fits my Laser standard steering wheel.

I didn't realise it had three locking positions though Andy.

Re: Carb Blockage

Well, I got some new points today and fitted them, then set the timing as usual. Went for a drive and great, never cut out at all during the journey. Did another circuit and again, no cutting out, definite progress with the new points there, But, just before I put the car away I thought I'd lower th...

Do you have another means of passing the wires through?

As said, you could gain access through the glove box light aperture.

Re: Carb Blockage

Thanks for the replies guys, appreciate it. Peter - I don't have a spare pump to hand, but I shall keep that in mind on the part-to-change-to-elmiminate-the-fault list. Still some other parts to try first. Paul - I did fit another set of points, a spare set I had though not new. And I have just fitt...

Re: Carb Blockage

Well I tried another condensor, and the problem remains unfortunately. Still cutting out on idle (after a few miles/warmed up, but once it does it, it will then do it again and again), and rev counter slightly erratic.

Think I will try the coil next.

Any other suggestions more than welcome. Thanks.

Re: Carb Blockage

Thanks for your input Jason. Funnily enough, my good friend Steve (stevemarl on here), has also suggested it could be ignition related. Now that you have mentioned condenser also, I think I shall try that tomorrow, as I do have a new spare. Here's hoping!

Re: Carb Blockage

Well I took the top off and had all the jets out, cleaned the passage ways, etc. Put it back toegther and it's still the same unfortunately. Cut out on idle several times on the first drive. Anyone know of anything else I could try to fix this please? The rev counter at idle isn't very steady, waver...

Re: Carb Blockage

I have never done a overhaul on the Carb , as this is something I would love to try out , funny in another Link this is where that ultrasonic cleaning machine would be of help . Strange it’s ok for a few runs then plays you up Paul , hope you get it sorted Thanks Jason :) These carbs are absolutely...

Re: Capri radio

Another vote for in the glove box here too. And no need to reach over if it's a remote control one, far easier. As said, a small hole is needed for the wires taken from the original stereo, or you can use the aperture from the glove box light. You might wish to consider this too, from Halfords (but ...

Re: Carb Blockage

Still having trouble with this. After I blow compressed air through the idle circuit, or use the hand over the carb whilst revving method, the car is fine for a couple of journeys but the cutting out at idle creeps back in. I will take the top off the carb later, as the top gasket has a slight leak ...

If someone could determine the size it shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement?

I washed my washer bottle in nothing but warm washing up liquid. It's amazing how it degreases. Came up super clean!
