Re: Electric fuel pump

The car of mine that has this issue would quite happily drain and flatten battery after battery if I let it That is a definite problem your car has, obviously. It should only take a few seconds of cranking for the fuel to be delivered and the car to spring into action. After you have done a ton of ...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Everytime it happens the carb is bone dry - no petrol what so ever in the carb That's quite normal if the car hasn't been driven for a while, mine's the same, everyone's will be. But, my car can still start first time (with choke flaps closed), albeit a little longer with the cranking as the fuel i...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Just have a read of my post again Wayne if you have time, it isn't a problem, that's what I was saying. And that maybe the cars which won't start have something else which isn't helping the issue?

Re: Electric fuel pump

Are you guys sure that something else isn't wrong here. I mean, I drive my car frequently all year round, but there can be periods of a few weeks when I haven't, but even then it can start first time (assuming the choke flaps are closed), and yes it can take a little longer to start as the fuel trav...

Re: Brake caliper.

No one has yet pointed out that once one piston has popped out you will need to refit it and clamp it in place to get the other one out. I used that method last time, although previously I have popped one piston out then put my thumb over the hole to pop the other out. Plenty of rags in there to tr...

Re: Brake caliper.

My front caliper is sticking on slightly, there is a slight noise which goes off after about five miles if I don't touch the brakes. I've had this too. Defintely take the calipers off and pop the pistons out, as Peter suggests, clean them all up and grease them up using the correct grease, makes a w...

Hehe, now that's definitely worthy of the 'Piston Broke' award Martin!

She was so incredibly faultless, throughout all of those long years. The perfect monarch, can't imagine there has ever, or will ever, be another like her.

Re: Seen everything now

I had a small black and white TV in my bedroom Paul Did it put you off a chicken ? I look away when David Attenborough does his programmes now and a animal is killed  It would take more than that to put me off my food Jason :) However, it has stayed with me all this time so I guess there is so...

Re: Seen everything now

When channel 4 first come out ( can’t remeber date ) but late 80s when they had a over 18 film on you would get a triangle in the top right of the screen . Does anybody remember that ? Yes, I recall the warning triangle Jason. Can't remember the film I watched once, but it had a chicken being slaug...

Spot on. And that's why I'm still watching them, frequently/daily. Same goes for music too.

Re: Rocker Cover - Any Model

Thank you Andy. I'm reluctant to put my own pics up these days, but you never know. Apart from 1st place, there are other trophies too. For the overall loser (I've got my eye on that one!), for the 'best dressed', i.e. customised/paint job, and one called the 'Piston Broke' trophy, which is given to...

Re: Check those pipes…

The fuel/ethanol doesn't come into contact with the outside of the hoses, and that's what has perished in the pic. it is something else that's caused that, or/and poor quality of the hoses as mentioned.

Re: Check those pipes…

The chap in my local garage has told me that he's seen very rapid deterioration of rubber pipes due to ethanol. When I see comments like that it tends to get my cynical roll eyes going. Not with you Andrew, but with your garage chap, he can't know that it's down to the ethanol can he, he can't do, ...

Even Andrew can't agree that's reasonable :headscratch: :) :D It's a good job Andrew's such a good sport, with all this talk of gardeners, servants, maids, richness, mansions and high-cost-reasonableness. It's only in jest, I know for sure he's really a normal down to earth working class geezer. (H...

The loudest thing on earth is the lawnmower belonging to the bloke next door. Especially when he cuts the grass at 9 PM when I've got to get up early the next morning. :banghead:  Andrew. Due to the size of your stately home your next door neighbour must be several miles away! Are you sure tha...
