Didn`t one of the presenters have an amazing resemblance to Marc Bolan, or is that blurred by the mists of time?

Great programme yes, brilliantly entertaining and at the same time you learn a lot. They did bring it back in recent years.

That's funny, when I first saw the pic I thought I already have that. But yes it's the previous one. Might be being cynical but 55 years, which isn't even a significant number really, seems a bit like cashing in do we think?

Re: Capri Assembly Line

You can get tours of the Mini plant in Oxford, very interesting and it takes about 2 hours. It starts at the body assembly showing how it is built up from 100's of parts and you end up at the end of the line with cars having there wheels put on and driving off. The only part you dont visit is the p...

Re: Capri Assembly Line

Makes you think doesn't it, I know my Capri came from the Reich, but it was still built by a bunch of men, all in one factory essentially. Today it's bits from here, computers from there, shared bodies, stuffed with gizmos from all round the world and put together by robots, then imported on huge s...

Re: Capri Assembly Line

Yes but... there is never an apostrophe in the plural, surely? I mean one sees it all over the place: `Carpet`s for sale`, `Mobile Phone`s unlocked` , they`re wrong? Possessive form or replacing letters, that`s what we were taught. edit - I`m sorry Paul, that`s me being thick and a bit up my own ar...

Re: Capri Assembly Line

the first Capri's off the line Tut tut! Andrew. Oh I was well aware :D But there is a rule whereby a word may not appear correct or become changed without extra punctuation. So, it could become Capriss, rhymes with kiss. See? That's why, you will note, I usually add the apostrophe :)

Re: Feeling safe at night

I hear echoes of what you have said there Paul about the police all the time, they just don't seem fit for purpose any more.

You could ring them for help with something and they give you a crime number for the insurance and they think they've done their job.

Re: New Car Programme on TV Soon

I can only assume with that figure, which does seem high, that some owners who spend a lot on their cars, such as costly restorations or resprays push that average figure up. It's easy to spend thousands on a classic car if you don't do the work yourself. Also it may take other things into account, ...
