re: 2.0 Ghia - no MOT needs work - 1979

Hi all, Long story short... I am selling my Mk3 2.0 Ghia, 1979 I am very sorry to say that I have come to the conclusion that I should sell my capri..... I have been aiming to put it back on the road (legally) for quite some time now, but yesterday I started re-surfacing my driveway and had to move ...

Re: Goblin Works Garage

Hi all, its been a while since I have been here. AH... just watching this Goblin crap as we speak.... I am just getting angry at their statements every few moments: - I just keep thinking of my granny as she had one - it was a failed attempt at a muscle car - that v6 block has got to go - this engin...

Re: paint roller job - military

Thanks for all the comments guys, so I am pretty sure that 95% would say not to go ahead..... pretty decent straw poll...... OK, so I guess what I will do is strip it right down and then think about it more when I get down to the bare metal (or thereabouts).... and then if its looking ok, then do it...

Re: paint roller job - military

I do know what you mean, however the picture you see was when it was wet and clean....... in reality the paintwork is terrible..... due to a bad spray job done many years go.... straight on top of the original beige..... so its bubbly in many places. Its been de-bumpered and de-handled and panel gap...

paint roller job - military

Hi chaps,

I'm thinking about skimming the paintwork back a bit and then giving it a roller job......

I know some will be horrified at the idea, and others pleased, but I have seen some military green and I think that might be the way to go.....

So..... any advice? Any ideas please?

Ben

remove old immobiliser

Hi all, So my capri has a very old aftermarket immobiliser on it..... and the contact points on the fob are old and worn away now..... in fact they have been burning out and I guess they arent making contact in the reciever anymore. I am guessing due to the age it should not be too cunning of an imm...

Re: £500 of welding..... ouch!

So I picked him up at the weekend, and yup, it was £500! However as I say, my mechanic is a cool guy and so if he says £500 for welding and MOT, it means he has spent a lot of time on it.... Anyhow, after cleaning it up (he can be messy..... he runs a scrapyard specialising in Ford), I'm just happy ...

Re: replacement headlining, or stick carpet?

Haha, all good options, thanks guys.....

I'll have another proper look and see what works best..... probably rip out the old and fashion some kind of system to affix the new stuff to...... tricky!

replacement headlining, or stick carpet?

Hi all,

My headlining is rubbish with tears.

What would others suggest to do about it? Buy a new headlining from somewhere, or affix some form of carpet?

Thanks!

Re: £500 of welding..... ouch!

Thanks guys, some great suggestions, I certainly want to try and limit next years bill! Good point also on learning welding, I really do want to do that..... The only slight issue is all the DIY projects I have in and around the house (pretty much my hobby I guess), so the missus will be a bit trick...

£500 of welding..... ouch!

So I had to put my capri in for MOT again, and was still struggling to work out to do with the non-existent door handles (previous owner got rid and welded/painted over, and electric door poppers are rubbish). I hooked up a basic cable system to get through the MOT..... which was accepted... great! ...

Can I ask..... how do you get the plastic moulding off......? is there a way that is less likely to snap it?

I have an old door that I want to take the plastic bit off of..... so I can put it on my existing door......

Remove door handle?

Hi all, My saga with my doors continues, but I think I will simply try and put the old door handles back into the 'smoothed/shaved/de-handled' doors that are on the car at the moment. SO... to check that I can get the new/old door handles on, I will need to take the door handles off some other doors...
