Re: Differences between 4 & 6 cyl models besides engine
Depends on your Capri's demographic but in general when comparing 2.8 to 2.0 (Sorry, only engines I'm familiar with) - Body strengthening - the V6 models utilized strengthening plates around the front struts (Not sure if anywhere else). - The V6's input shaft on the gearbox is longer, therefore inco...

Re: Capri cold start problem - help!
+2 for electronic. I went the Pertronix route with a Flamethrower coil. Starts easily, even when Canadian winter is on the horizon. It's actually kinda neat, because a lot of people judge a car by how easily it starts up. Right or wrong, it feels good when it does. Defo sounds more electrical than f...

Re: my capris running like a dog
I know it sounds stupid, but I once found that the distributor itself was loose, I could easily turn it by hand. It gave me grief for a few days while I was endlessly pulling over and tuning the carb to no avail. This probably isn't the case for you, but it'd only take a second to go look and see. M...

Re: wisdom teeth aaarrrggg
Oh yes, I remember having my wisdom teeth pulled. Like you, mine were going to be impacted, they showed me xrays and explained how if they kept growing at that angle I'd run into pain later on in life. But I agree with Beakster, there is too much of this vibe over here in Canada over nonsense surger...

Re: Twin 40s /oil leaks and starting problems
Basic advice on oil leak locations: 1. Jack up the car, place it on stands and have a thorough look around. Its extremely helpful to degrease and wash the entire underneath of the car, get it spotless in terms of mud/grease/oil/ etc. That also goes for the engine bay. It's a good idea to do that on ...

Re: Where is everyone from?
Canada, in the Western region. Bought my Mk1 four years ago (when I was 18). I've seen a total of five Capris where I live. 2 are rotting in fields, 1 is being restored by my cousin ('76 JPS) and 1 is his parts car. And there's mine, a rolling restoration that has gone on quite smoothly. Basically, ...

Re: spun my car tonight
About 2 years ago I spun my Mk1 pretty bad. It was a bright sunny day, I was driving flat out :lmao: (dry pavement, after all). Coming around a bend I noticed there was a large puddle of water coming soon in my lane. As I steered left to avoid it, I was too late, and my rear right wheel caught the p...

Re: 1.0L Mk1 Capri
You'll have to keep in mind your proposed route is rather unconventional to some of us, so don't be offended by opinions, just keep your eyes peeled for the facts. Only YOU know what you want out of your Capri, so if that's what will make you happy then do it up! Your Capri philosophy in many ways i...

Fuel Tank Pressure
Hi all, this is my first post here. I've been running into an issue with the carb's fuelling. I've got an Mk1 with a 2.0 pinto, 32/36 Weber, 4-2-1 exhaust system, k&n filter and pertronix ignitor electronic ignition. After I fill up with petrol and drive, the car is fine, doesn't require tuning ...

Re: Haynes manual
Hahaha I think we can all agree on that one! But at the same time.. I mean, these manuals weren't written last year. You've got to keep in mind, the fellow doing all the work was working with a decent car to begin with and all jobs are just so easy and simple given ideal circumstances (which none of...
