Re: Temp and fuel gauge annoyance

Sorry that hasn`t solved your problem... Put back in seems ok but just reads full but off the scale. It’s always done that. That does sound to be almost certainly the sender unit shorting internally, maybe intermittently? I wouldn`t buy another temp sender, it`s unlikely they`re all faulty. If you h...

Re: respray

The parts alone will be a few quid, plus that`s an awful lot of fabrication (i.e. labour)... I`d say that was less than I`d expect.

Re: Temp and fuel gauge annoyance

You need to check the voltage on the lead when it`s disconnected from the sender (temp), If that`s showing about 5v the regulator`s probably OK, it may well be that the connections to the regulator on the PCB need cleaning? Making & breaking due to vibrations while moving?

Re: Laser + GL and now a 3.0S!

Had to do my driver rear mountings a couple of years ago Peter, Very interesting, if depressing, read. When you said "the other mounting", I assume that was the other rear one for the driver`s seat, not the `same` one on the passenger`s side? Also, what sort of mileage had that car covere...

Re: respray

if possible do the prep work there (which is what I was going to do) so they can advise and you can sort of do it under supervision. TBH, as well as the points Caprigear made re. guaranteeing quality of finish when they (their company) have not carried out operations, there is also the H&S, and...

Re: Laser + GL and now a 3.0S!

That crack in mine is on the driver's side rear mount, the inside one close to the centre console. No idea how it got there and I wasn't even aware it was there until I took the carpet up! Thanks for that. I`m guessing the passenger side is OK as it`s used less. I`ve had a handbrake fracture the fl...

Re: Laser + GL and now a 3.0S!

can answer this on Danny's behalf - yes it is a seat mounting area. Common Ford problem. Bringer of good tidings - first loose flywheels now cracks in the floor... :o Great... is this one particular mounting point (driver side, rear left for eg) , or are any liable to break? Thanks for your h...

Re: Noise from exhaust

IIRC there is a fairly strong spring inside the solenoid which pulls the pinion back on release. If that`s failed (how????) it would cause your symptoms.

Re: Heater box

It could be some form of resistor, carbon rather than wire-wound, but it`s not standard, it`s been added by someone and looking at it it`s probs failed (they dissipate a LOT of heat - hence their mounting in the fan`s airflow) Easily checked if u have a multimeter, should be a couple of Ω (thanks An...

the last full set was listed in June and sold for £140. I Just had a look on ebay and actually a set sold for £175 at the end of August (so 20%/m?)- there was even a set * listed* then at £340.... strangely didn`t sell. Noticeable though that last month there were quite a few listed/sold at £20 for...
