Re: Bonnet strut

OK, OK - 34" / 86.5cm. (that`s from the kink at the bottom where it pivots, to the far end.) I know £35 is not a vast amount, but for what it is?? TBH I`d be inclined to do the same.

Re: ESRT32PS LCD display

CapriFreak wrote: Tue Apr 23, 2024 8:35 pm Any ideas If I could replace it with a generic LCD ?
In a word, no. You could , maybe, swap a working screen from a scrap of the same model, (assuming it`s `plugged` not soldered) but they`re not standardised pin-outs so no generics as such.

Re: Engine Cutting Out

There are no visible terminals to connect to, when the car is connected to the coil. I'l Yes, I remember now, they`re like insulated bullet connectors that push directly on to the coil`s posts? I think I put spades on for Alarm etc and forgot how they were originally. (Anyone else getting loads of ...

Re: Engine Cutting Out

, I'll have to find a way of connecting the meter while the coil is still connected somehow, My meter came with optional crocodile clip probes, you could just use a couple of miniature crocodiles? Or a piece of wire inserted in the female plug before connection? The only thing with the ballast resi...

Re: Engine Cutting Out

Paul, If you suspect the coil is failing when it warms up (starts ok, runs, cuts out after time) you could try the following experiment. Make sure points are closed, put a voltmeter on the coil (6v), ignition on, and wait. If that`s the culprit, after a couple of minutes the V on the coil should sho...

Re: Door handle lock matching to key

~Yes, I thought he had a barrel for his key and wanted to put the levers in a new lock (so the key would work a new `handle`)?
"you can match the lock by removing the tumblers to your key
Bit unclear really.

I wouldn`t think so TBH, more likely coil failing when it warms up. BUT if you`ve tried swapping that out...? Perforated Vac advance diaphragm?

Re: Door handle lock matching to key

If you mean you have a baerrel for your key, yes, remove the `fingers` (can`t remember name, is it levers?) keep them in order and fit in a new barrel. job`s a good`un. If you have another, spare lock then you can rebuild a working one by trial and error fitting different `levers` till you get a fla...

Re: Engine Cutting Out

Crap in the idle circuit? (that`s a potential cause - not a course of action :D ) Suction pulls crap into idle jet, stalls, no suction, crap falls back, starts... etc, etc?, I had something similar one afternoon, kept stalling at idle then it just spontaneously cleared itself. Float chamber was spot...

Great find Andrew! ;) I've never heard of this game, Neither had I - that must be quite a rarity. Did you buy it? edit: disregard that, there are 77 currently on ebay, so not that rare after all? Some are dated 1989 so it must have been produced from mid `70s to almst 1990. Yet I`ve never heard of ...

Re: Capri on TV

It did look really nice. It`s weird, bur seeing that Beigey colour, which was really popular then, the very first Mk2 I ever saw was in that colour. I remember like yesterday being behind it as it joined my lane, the chrome badge and the red II decals, plus the huge back screen. Got me thinking: I c...

I thought as above - then I checked in the 69 Ford workshop manual and it seems Mk1 was different and the carpet does go over screws:
