Re: Having a clear out

Hi, I have the silver clamps and runners, screws, the rubber cut out seal, the winder handle etc I do think I still have the mechanism knocking about but will check tomorrow and get back to you to confirm. I know for certain though that the cable had been cut but if you can get a new one of these or...

Re: Spray Can Paint

Ok thanks alot gents appreciate all input and opinions! I spent hours upon hours rubbing down all the running gear (bodywork i'm having done professionally!) in all the nooks and crannies and red oxide primed it building up the layers so will leave it as is for the time being then. I have a complete...

Re: Spray Can Paint

CRAP! I've used Hammerite all over the running gear of my car during it's restoration. Anyone got any suggestions as i see three routes: 1) Spray good stuff over the top 2) Rub down all the paint and re paint (don't really want to do) 3) Wait five years then respray! better learning this now than on...

Re: Should I sell

Hi, I don't know you but hey just my ten pence... Selling Jak means you'll lose a car which has a lot of memories and be left with a car that you won't want to drive too much and what's the point in a Capri if you don't drive it?! I'd sell the smarter car to someone who'll look after it and keep as ...

Re: Can someone clear this up for me?

Hi, I'm still learning the mechanics so i'n sure some old and bold on here could help you more but i'll offer my ten pence! Was explained to me ages ago that having the heater on won't stop the engine overheating completely but will draw excess heat away from the engine and therefore reduce the chan...

Heaters!

Hi, does anyone have any experience with heaters? According to the Capri Bible (Haynes manual) there are three different types of heater: the standard behr (plastic mk3's and im guessing once the production moved entirely to germany) and two smiths (metal) one standard and the other heavy duty. My q...

Re: Door handle question again

Personally I wouldn't bother buying new doors, just cut new ones in. The thing to bear in mind with original capri handles and mechanisms is that although they'd bolt on, you'll need to find a matching set (Or have up to 5 keys just for the car to carry around) and because they're older they'll have...

Can you upgrade the fuse box?

Hi, trying to square away the electronics in my car and wondered if anyone knows what an easy upgrade to the fuse box could be? not meaning necessarily a modern one (As know that would be ninja to fit!) but if an escort, cortina etc one was bigger and better? Just wondering so any help would be grea...

Classictrim

I want to warn anyone who was considering using classictrim's services in Laindon. I went there with a fabric recaro that needed work, the high base sides were collapsed but material undamaged and was quoted £50. Nice and easy. told the bloke not to rush (as he said he was busy) and after christmas ...

Re: hawk car alarm

Hey, joining this thread a bit late but hopefully that means you could help me out.. I'm after fitting a decent alarm (obviously!) for my 2.0 pinto but just want something that'll siren, immobilize and remote unlock the doors (ideally) but that's about it. I'm not interested in remote starting or an...

Also, what's the deal with 'Bigbore'? Is this just wider holes or does it improve the running?
