Apologies if you have already done this, but have you checked the fuses and their contacts at the bottom of the relay assembly are in-tact and clean?

Re: Wanted - Cross member cable clips

I think these are the ones: http://retrobolts.co.uk/516-8mm-single-fuel-pipe-hose-clips---qty-5-261-p.asp 8mm hole and 8mm clip. I have bought a pack and haven't got round to fitting them on mine yet so can't confirm if I'm right (I do know the hole in the crossmember is 8mm)! Noel.

Re: 2.8i Oil Cooler Tightening Torque

The 2.8i supplement manual lists one torque for oil cooler related parts and that is the "Threaded sleeve - oil cooler" which is 20-40Nm. This is the sleeve that passes through the oil cooler body and holds it to the threaded bush screwed into the block. There's no other torque specified, ...

Re: Car feels weird lol

This is a crushingly disappointing thread. We start off with an interesting technical query and have now veered off into a discussion that has upset a long standing and respected forum contributor. Might we please have no further posts here until the OP (Jordan) gets his springs off and finds out wh...

How long ago was that? 10 years?
I had a previous Capri, and I know what happened to that because I sold it to a close family member, who er, did scrap it unfortunately!

Er there's at least three planes in that picture, the Javelin, a Meteor behind it, and what looks like a super sabre to the left.... but I might be wrong on that.

Re: Best super glue on the market?

The best super glue, in my experience so far is the Vitalbond CA range (google it). There is a big difference between stuff like that as used by professional modelmakers and the little tubes you get at checkout It comes in different viscosities. I use the thick stuff (has a red label) and it is good...

Re: boot struts

SGS offer a good service yes, and the other nice thing about re-gassing your existing struts is that you keep struts with the right date code on them - a date code that is broadly in line with the build date of your car. Which is nice if you count rivets.

It was a good issue apart from the Capri write-up, lots of pieces about group B rally and turbo F1 in the 1980s too.

Re: Jobs in this cold weather

Nice dry and bright afternoon on Saturday so went for a drive over to Richmond - up the hill, round the park then back home.
Can't think this does any harm at all, warms everything up and drives off any moisture hanging around, gives the battery a charge too.

Re: 2.8i as a family car/daily driver?

I'm not sure there's a huge premium for the specials with the half-leather interior and the LSD, overall condition, bodywork and mileage kind of over-arches things like that.

Re: Jobs in this cold weather

I've run mine for half an hour every month or so. Last week reversed it half way out garage, left it running - which warms garage up a bit, then I fitted up the powder coated front bumper and the end-caps that I sprayed with HFVP in the Autumn. Just little things really. Would have took it out but t...

Re: 2.8i as a family car/daily driver?

Good spots. The replaced front door speakers are fine, but they don't appear to have any covers on them, which is a bit untidy on a 16 grand car. Another thing is its got original spec Goodyear NCT2 tyres (from what I can see). This would be great for a concourse entry, but I don't believe Goodyear ...

Re: 2.8i as a family car/daily driver?

Unleaded wise I have been using additives for years and everything is OK so far. Last time I looked at having the heads done properly I think its about 500 for the head work and several hours of heads off / heads back on (which you either do yourself or pay for) so if your paying about 1k inc the VA...
