Re: Heater box
I agree it’ll be a resistor, either ceramic or maybe porcelain. The resistance part will be between the single pin and double pins, doesn’t look broken so likely to be inside the unit. If you have multimeter put it on ohms and measure, the standard is 2.5ohms. If you have that then it’s not broken, ...

Re: Loom connector
I don’t recognise it and I’ve spent hours recently tracing looms. I spent 2 hours at the weekend chasing a wiring loom that ended up in the engine bay all taped up and doing nothing. I then traced it back and it was partially wired into the hazard lights so I came to the conclusion it was part of an...

Re: Polyurethane or Rubber
I was going to change all of them, but it does make sense to change the anti roll bars for stiffer ones, didn’t know you can get ‘soft’ polys. But actually finding rubber ones is ridiculous as I haven’t found anywhere that sells them and the local restorations garage doesn’t know either

Re: Polyurethane or Rubber
Cool, I’ll stick with finding the rubber ones. Although that seems to be a challenge in itself. I’ll dump the Poly idea, or was it Polly that I dumped in the 80s

Polyurethane or Rubber
Hi All, I’ve started to make a note of things to do to my 2.8i during its winter hibernation period. One of the jobs (I’ve discovered many) I’ve been looking at is swapping out the bushes and I am a bit annoying in trying to keep everything as it was when it came out the factory. I’m struggling to f...

Re: Odd electrical gremlin
Hi Peter, it’s highly likely that you have corrosion on your fuse holders and when damp gets on them it’ll give you the issues you had. Like the others have said it should be a simple case of a clean with fine sandpaper or if it’s a dry joint (a crack on the solder) then a soldering iron will sort t...

Re: Electrical Fire
Ok electrics are my thing, basically the wire will get friggin hot, the sheath will smoke like a bitch and if there is anything combustible nearby it’ll go up in flames so you did well to notice it. By the sounds of it and like Peter said you have a short between live and neutral and the cars entire...
Re: Brakes
Ok, So as it’s the weekend I took it out again and this time I carried out the experiments you guys have suggested. 1. Engine off and pressing the brakes - all stays hard. 2. Engine on and pressing the brakes hard all ok 3. Take the car for a drive and brake hard - all ok 4. In traffic if I keep har...
Brakes
Ok so I warned you I might ask some stupid questions and here’s my first. I took my car out at the weekend (loved it) and I noticed that when I stopped my foot slowly went further and further down on the break pedal to the point where the car slowly started to move, when I took my foot off and reapp...

Radio Cassette
Hi All, I’m new here so I’m likely to ask a load of dumb questions, equally I’m sure I give you some pointers. I’ve just bought my first Capri and the cassette player doesn’t work!! Looking at the ebay price of £400 you can stuff off if I’m paying that so having an electronics understanding I took m...
