Bristol MOT centre recommendations

Finally getting my project back on the road and hoping you lot can recommend a friendly MOT centre in the Bristol area. Not looking for any leniency on the rules, just one that's gonna look after my pride and joy! Also if anyone can recommend somewhere that can tune a V8 on carbs. I've got it runnin...

Re: I would rather have a Capri than an urban 4x4..

Probably going to catch some flack on here for saying this, but I used to own an urban 4x4 and it was great, in fact we're considering switching from the SMax we have now back to the Kuga as we liked it more. It did great in the snow up in Northumberland and Scotland when we took it up there, and it...

Re: Any thoughts on the new Ford Capri idea

I have to agree, there is a new rumour about a modern Capri about once a year, and as Steve says, they're pure speculation with no details coming from Ford themselves. With the Mustang now being available in the UK, I find it highly unlikely they're introduce another front-engine RWD coupe to the li...

Another option is the Avon CR28 http://www.avonmotorsport.com/road-lega ... cr28-sport

Any Avon stockist should be able to source them for you.

To save people hunting. It's Linconshire which is not too bad for me (about 200 miles) but since my Capri hasn't run in over 3 years (long story) I'm not sure I'll make it. Would love to go tho, just have to see if I can get her ready in time.

Headlight / Headlamp relay quesions

Hi all, Got a few questions about this relay / fuse box thing... 1. I think mine is knackered. So I'm getting my Capri back together (very slowly) and put the headlights back in yesterday. Connected the battery etc. and went to test everything out and found the dip beam is only working on one side. ...

Re: Found a scary problem with my steering rack !!

Do you mean where the ball joint attaches to the steering arm on the strut? As far as I know, the original ball joint used a castellated nut, like the anti-roll bar, which is prevented from undoing using a split pin. On the replacement ones that I got they used nylock nuts instead. Both require you ...

Looks great, was wondering if you'd made any progress on this.

Would love to see some close ups of the carbon body. Have you decided how much you're going to paint vs leave as exposed carbon?

Re: Exhaust rubbing tyre

If you can post some pictures that would help. I would def. recommend against using cable ties as they won't withstand the heat of the exhaust. Metal cable ties are available but it still feels like more of a get-you-home fix than a permanent solution. There are loads of universal exhaust bushes ava...

Re: Stoopid question...

Still, I do usually torque everything by the book, but in that situation you just can't get the wrench in place. Likewise, it's pretty much all I use the Haynes manual for these days. I figure if it's specified, it take no extra time to put the socket on the torque wrench and tighten it up with tha...

Stoopid question...

So I'm putting the suspension all back together, following the guide from Beakster and the technical page on here. I have everything back together loosely ready to put the weight back onto the wheels before final tightening. So, how am I supposed to torque the TCA to strut ball joint nut to 33 lb/ft...

Pure Ford day at Castle Combe this weekend

Anyone else planning on heading down to this? https://castlecombecircuit.co.uk/shows/pure-ford/13/5/2017/ I went to the Spring action day a couple of weeks ago and it was great, a really good show of all sorts of cars and a bunch of old Fords too including some out doing the drift show! Would be gre...

Re: caprisport 260mm brakes

Beakster is right, to fit the brackets you have to drill the original threaded holes out to remove the threads and allow the bracket to be fitted on the rear. From memory you also need to grind / file the two tabs with the threaded holes so the bracket fits flat, if that makes sense. I have the 260 ...

Re: Spiltting the Steering Column

I have a CCI one, whilst functional I wasn't massively impressed with the quality of production if I'm honest. The paint job, if you can even call it that is wafer thin and chips off if you look at it. Also, for the price they charge I wasn't expecting to have to clean burrs out of the splines from ...

Re: Queen Square, Bristol. April 2016

I'll see what I can do to convince the MK2 owner, his work means he can go for weeks without being able to have a day off so it'll depend if he can arrange things around it but I'll start bugging him about it now :) Hi, If he can't make it, with a bit of luck he might let you borrow the car to driv...

I'll certainly be making the effort to make it along to more of these if I can. 8th May is looking good for me, which hopefully will make up for not being able to come to Beaulieu the week before. I might even be able to convince my mate to bring his MKII RS2000 XPack if I'm lucky. Hi, Sorry to hea...

Re: Queen Square, Bristol. April 2016

Hi Guys, Really disappointed I wasn't able to make it. I'd been looking forward to meeting up with a bunch of the guys from the forum but was sick as a dog all weekend and barely left my bed let alone the house. Typically I'm well enough by Monday to return to work! Looks like you had a great mornin...
