Re: Who Remembers?

I'm glad that I read this as I was going to see the film. I won't be bothering now. Trust Hollywood to take something factual and fuck it up.

Re: Help buying 2.8

Hi guys. This is my first post so any help would be appreciated. I having been looking for a while now for a nice late Capri but most cars seem to have had 15 owners no history and badly looked after. I know this is a old car and what to expect but finding a good one seems difficult. I have however...

Ex Pressed panels MK3 wings

I was at the NEC earlier today and I had a long discussion with the guys at Ex Pressed panels about MK3 wings. The outcome of this is that they are prepared to go ahead with these, they already have a pair of genuine wings from which to create the tooling. They would like a commitment for an initial ...

Re: Daily Driver In Danger - Mk3 Ford Capri

I would suggest getting the gearbox off first of all then work out the parts you will need. Once the box is off then all should become obvious. The clutches on 1.6 and 2.0 are different sizes so be sure to get the correct one. I can supply the parts if I know what you will be needing.

Re: Indicators PLEASE HELP!

I did a modified front end on a MK3 many years ago and I simply made up a couple of small brackets behind the front grille and mounted some small indicator units there. Until the indicators are actually working you don't really notice them behind the grille.

Re: My hot Capri

Have you checked the waterways through the inlet manifold? if they're blocked then you won't get any flow through the heater matrix. Why do folk seem to assume that simply slapping on an electric fan is the answer? if the rest of the cooling system is working normally then you don't need one.

Re: Emissions test...

If it's a 1980 then it should have the emissions tested, also as it's a V6 there should be readings done on both banks and the emissions combined to give the final reading.

Another rare one is graphite grey over stratos silver. I have broken quite a few of those over the years but I've not seen one for a long time.

N-spoorder wrote:Thats not a JPS

I tend to agree
It's not a JPS ,it's a white S model. If you look the steering wheel centre boss is S not JPS ,the seat material is S and on the door trim, the handle pull bezel is chrome , the JPS were black.

Re: The Capri failed the MOT today

I had an issue with spongy brakes last year & fitted one of Martins refurbished master cylinders. Haven’t had an issue since, so I would echo the others on this being the issue. Good luck with the seal kit replacement, has to be worth a try. I have another batch of the 2.8i master cylinders due...

Re: What a transformation !!

Later on in the MK3 range Ford introduced a lot of "limited editions" Cameo, Cabaret, GT4 , Calypso1, calypso 2, LS . They were all simply tarted up base models to try to keep sales ticking ove.r

If all four flange bolts are out just give the flange a smack with a hammer and it will come apart.

Re: Weather Strip Replacemet

If you're just replacing the outer weatherstrips you don't need to remove anything, simply wind down the window and pop the old weatherstrip out of the clips, if you look, the weatherstrip sits on top of the outer trim strip on top of the door body.
