Re: 2.8 poor running

i wouldnt be to bothered about a propper gasket for that mate,a good quality rtv silicone will be ok there, screws should be easy enough to source?if not ive got loads you can have! just dont take the actual distributor apart, you wont reseal that.

Re: 2.8 poor running

got a known good metering unit yesterday and bolted it on expecting great things ;) the car was the same! poor starting, lack of performance using huge amounts of fuel. the car has never missfired ,so have allways ruled out electrics. i knew that everything fuel related had been changed for new,or kn...

Re: 2.8 poor running

cheers mate, hopefully got one coming tommorow off one of the local banger lads ;) out of curiosity i rang a fuel injection specialist today to see if you can get new gaskets for the fuel distributors,he informed me that once you split them you wont seal them again!so its not just me!

Re: 2.8 poor running

hi mate it sounds like you have only split the fuel distributor from the air flow meter, dont think the rubber o ring is that important,it certainly wont stop any fuel leak.the only place i can see fuel getting in down there is if the plungers worn and not sealing well in the bore

Re: 2.8 poor running

i would advise anyone against taking one of these apart! ive put the other 2 back together tonight ,got them impecabaly clean before bolting them back together, and evenly tightening the bolts up.all 3 of them leak now between the 2 halves when fitted to the car.i have studied the internals for hours...

Re: 2.8 poor running

fitted the unit today, and the car started and reved up great, unfortunately the fuel distributor started leaking between the two halves :? i stripped it again ,the thin tin gasket was mint,no rust or dirt to stop it sealing so put it back together and tightened the torx bolts right up.refitted to the...
