Re: Driving well, put headlights on---- total loss of power

I found two additional fuses below dash. One held a bullit fuse within a large black twistable fuse holder below the steering column this contained a white fuse that had popped also for anyone else out there who may be in search for fuses. Theres a fuse attached to the top of a black relay clipped o...

Re: Driving well, put headlights on---- total loss of power

I may have found the problem. Or part of the problem. Under the steering colum theres a large black fuse holder. I pulled it open to see if the fuse was intact. It had blown i replaced it and then set about tracing the the power feed to work out if there was any cause for the fuse popping only to fi...

Re: Driving well, put headlights on---- total loss of power

Will do that again. Now its brighter outside.

But do you know if there are any big fuses or relays which would take the power.

I cant find anything like it. But im surprised that simply putting headlights on can shut the entire car down.

Re: Welder recomendations

I picked up a Wolf Professional mig 140 from Amazon May 2015. Its both gas/gasless. It was well under £200. I used it to carryout repairs on an 91 MR2. It was a joy to use and as I time served welder, i found it to be very good and it worked to a very high standard. The work was being carried out in...

Driving well, put headlights on---- total loss of power

Been enjoying the brighter evenings. Took my 86 1.6 for a wee drive. No issues but when i decided to put my headlights on, the engine cut out and then refuses to restart or turn over. I have no electric running to the dash, iginiton or to the starter. I checked the condition of the 7 fuses in the en...

Re: New battery required, but which one?

The starter appears fine. I find that if the car is ever jump started on leads. The engine is free and turns over quickly. Without out the jump even when my old battery was new a few years ago. It laboured and didnt get up to full spin. But ill get a slightly larger battery. 400+ opposed to 360. Tha...

Re: New battery required, but which one?

Thanks. Stevemarl.

I just find my capri hard to turn over. Had the head rebuilt and new gaskets and alike done and it can be challneging to start under the old battery. So a bigger AH battery will allow me to continue to crank for longer if required.

Thanks once again.

Re: New battery required, but which one?

I have a set of round terminals adaptors.

Those batteries list still have low outputs. Has anyone any experience of stronger amps?

New battery required, but which one?

In the market for a new battery. Just wanting to see what others recommend. I currently have a 1.6 Capri. And feel that the recommended battery lacks the oomph to get it going. As you all know that battery tray is massive and theres plenty of height under the bonnet. But i find the amps quoted for t...

that 302 looks tiny compared to the other. is the 302 the way to go. and is there anyother engines. and the buget and skills required to squeeze a big 90degrees lump in must be extreme. i toyed with the idea of swapping a done 2.8i lump with a rover 3.5 v8. approx 15 years ago. but the fella selling...

totally littered with inuendo. But the crush tubes, are the metal inserts which are pressed into the hole, which the bolt will travel threw. if you look at some poly bush kits you'll clearly see the tube i mean. But the New TCAs from QH, don't come with them , so i thought, the all good things, that...
