Re: Wheeler Dealers Mercury Capri

I am no metal worker but good skills on those bumpers. I always think the Mercury looks a bit half ar*ed with those twin headlights and MK2 type grille thing but maybe it's let down by the rest of the US spec I don't know. I really like the MK2 with square type lights, uaed to be the hated or forgo...

Re: Wheeler Dealers Mercury Capri

And as for those 'american' bumpers !! :agree: But the Us-spec twin headlights look better than the square units on the European cars, in my opinion. Andrew. XR4X4 is a more practical version of the Capri

Yeah I think you are right, I guess if the Capri survived the 4x4 2.9 may have been its future. They were really nice cars weren't they, interior like a small Granada Ghia, sat well on its wheels.

Re: Moving on but still part of the blue oval club

Sad but good that you've bought the Sierra. The XR4x4 is one of my favourite Fords of all time. The first car I ever worked on, I serviced a farmers car as a YTS.Cross threaded a Spark Plug and took it off the road, he ended up with a hire car and I ended up with sending the head to be helicoiled. T...

Re: Spot the Capri

Hi Mark, Nice find! Yes, I spotted the silver Mk3 at the junction. I like the way he pulled straight out into the 2nd lane, he wasn't going to wait behind them any longer! :D I was hoping to see an FSO or two in Polish street scenes, but I couldn't see a single one..... Andrew. I thought ...

Spot the Capri

I am a bit of a geek, I suppose we all are. I am well known to spot a Capri from Space. Misses gets fed up of me having to turn around because I have caught a glimpse of a wheel nut attached to a Capri. Anyhow I miss the old Top Gear which was far better then watching three clowns without a tent or ...

Re: Capri book

Just a heads up guys I have just received my CCi magazine and in it is an offer to buy a Capri book called Factory-Original Ford Capri Mk11 & Mk111 by James Taylor, hardcover with 128 pages. It looks a good quality book I'll be getting one I think.... :D looks like there is a book for the MK1 o...

NEC TICKET PRICES

Is it me being tight or does anyone else think the same that ticket prices are a bit ridiculous especially when they charge you a fee for the privilege of booking then the car parking at £12? Over the years I just think it's got out of hand, by the time you are finished it's about £100 for four hour...

Re: Discuss Saxty's Book - The Cars You Always Promised Yourself

Hi, on the subject of Capri 280, why was it called the 280? Who decided on that name SVE? I get that it was meant to have Gold parts; colour coded etc and called the 500, then Ford found about another 500 or so body shells so they kept building until they ran out of parts thus ending the need to rem...

Re: Does anyone know the hidden Capri vs Sierra Story ?

I am not sure how prospective customers purchase thier cars both loyal devoted types or the fickle open market. I know when I worked at a dealer there was huge emphasis on fleet, that may have been where the bread and butter is. One thing I do know is exciting cars need to look good, I don't think t...

Re: Does anyone know the hidden Capri vs Sierra Story ?

Ah yes Motor maybe the magazine that I have the test in. I forgot about the Sciroco; maybe the fact that I forgot about it means need we say anymore. The thunderbird is something that with not getting over here I wouldn't think of really. I 100% agree and no doubt you have the evidence, I don't reca...
