Re: Restoration of Underside of 2.8 capri - terminology
Be careful removing the 4 bolts to get the gearbox cross member off. 3 out of 4 snapped on mine. Made drilling and tapping under the car really enjoyable

Re: High insurance on daily! why?
Strange. I have a Mazda 3 1.4 insured fully comp for £469. Iv been driving 13 years and 10 years no claims. Iv got my Mrs on the policy aswel and she only passed her test a few months ago. Similar thing to 340truck though. Original company wanted near £1400. I told them my renewal price elsewhere an...

Re: Spotted in Inverness
I was in Inverness in April and also seen a white Capri. I had travelled 680 odd miles from north Devon and that was the ONLY one I seen on my travels. It was near culloden battlefield museum at the time. Just south of Inverness. I crossed the suspension bridge heading north a few times as we spent ...

Re: Question about feeler gauges
I got a bluepoint set which have angled ends and are in thou and MM.
There is a formula for converting thou to MM but I can't remember it and I'm not that clever. I just use my converter app on my phone.
in the Haynes I think there is a section on converting measurements

Re: Carburettor
If your running a facet fuel pump u will need a pressure regulator. Iv got a Filter King one. Your facet will be running a lot higher than the recomended 3.5psi. My filter King one has a little gauge on top of a glass bowl with a filter in. You adjust the pressure by turning a little screw in the top

Re: Grockles......
Haha grockles. I swear only people from Devon and some parts of Cornwall use that word. My workplace is on the A39 (a main route to Cornwall) and we get any amount of 'grockles' coming in asking for directions to the campsite that they passed 2 minutes back down the road ha

Re: 3 cars in 4 months
Hi Andrew. I was in caerleon on Wednesday and a light blue Capri roared past me. Aren't you from that area? On another note, the last 13 years have been my whole driving life. In that time I think Iv had my name on the logbook of over 30 vehicles. But I have had my name on the logbook of the Capri f...

3 cars in 4 months
Ok let's begin. Sold my Lexus after 4 1/2 years because, well, time to move on eh??? Never put a spanner to it in that time apart from a seize caliper, clutch (easy, done in my lunch hour) and services and cambelt ect. Sold the lex and got a Mondeo st tdci estate...... Well......drove fine for 3 wee...

Re: Strange day
Not just the smell of the engines, I had a chat with a bloke at a small local car show a few weeks ago and we both spoke about the smell of inside the cars of that period. The owner of the Capri on show was interested to know why we wer sticking our heads in and sniffing the inside of his car ha. I ...

Strange things happened today. I started to fit leather seats in the Mrs new car (55 plate Mazda 3) a lovely little first car for her. What a ballache that was. I was moaning that it was Not as easy as the older fords. Even the mk5 escort was a shite site easier than the modern day stuff. Anyway tha...

Re: SPOTTED in High Wycombe!!
North Devon is the way forward. More beaches and surfing. But the biggest town in north Devon is Barnstaple. Around 65,000 including surrounding areas. However you do get some born and Breds with the local-yokel syndrome who don't care much for outsiders. But, they are being thinned out as time goes...
