Re: Electric fuel pump

So what we seem to be saying is just about everyone has the issue (If they don’t have an electric fuel pump) but have issued a collective “meh” and shrug of the shoulders? :xd: It’s just something that never happened (a decade and more ago) when I drove it regularly and now it’s back on the road see...

Re: Electric fuel pump

That’s just it, with having the car stood waiting for the respray that never happened for 3 months, then 40+ degrees (no way I was driving anything without AC in that) followed by it going for it’s current respray attempt it hasn’t done very many miles at all. Which means every time I am starting it...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Whilst the fuel in the line MAY drain back to the tank ......the valves in a mechanical pump should stop this but I cant see how it could drain the float bowl . However I did use a facet fuel pump , cant remember the model , but it was about 4psi and I run it off the spare power wire up by the head...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Would fitting a non-return valve in the fuel line be an easier and cheaper option? [/quote] Tried one but it’s not very satisfactory, there’s still some drain back after a couple of weeks, it’s a random aluminium unit that looks a bit naff and just leaves another join in the fuel pipe (which I’ve ju...

Electric fuel pump

Has anyone fitted such a thing, and if so, where about and what power feed did you use? It seems to suggest out of the engine bay to prevent fuel vapour lock. Is the carb over run feed man enough for the job? For some reason, even though it never was an issue in the past, the fuel readily and fairly...

Trim finish

Greetings assembled Capri brain Now the brum is in the paint shop I’m going to tidy up the side window trims. These should be satin black but are all faded and grim. So…has anyone tried powder coating them rather than paint? Would it work? Or am I just being a foolish fool and should just have some ...

Re: 2.9 BOB Cosworth 24v ECU / MAF

The Haynes manual for models with that engine should list a resistance value for the coolant sensor both hot and cold. If it’s out of tolerance the ECU (basic as it is on these engines) will substitute values or just respond incorrectly. As there’s very little plug in support (EOBD) for older cars I...

Re: Check those pipes…

The fuel/ethanol doesn't come into contact with the outside of the hoses, and that's what has perished in the pic. it is something else that's caused that, or/and poor quality of the hoses as mentioned. And yet the spec for R6 pipe says it has a much higher diffusion value for fuel through the pipe...

Re: Check those pipes…

Those pipes were only a couple of years old, I only run super (so e5 or lower) since the swap was force on us and they were all appropriately marked as R6, so suitable for unleaded. Probably only a few hundred miles on them. I’ve replaced with R9, which is more than double the price compare to R6. B...

Check those pipes…

Oh dear…. 700D04C0-59C8-4A63-B108-E13FA12389CF.jpeg I strongly suggest you all have a good eyeball of your fuel lines. These aren’t very old (but pre ethanol) and clearly have taken the right hump (to ethanol in the fuel?) and have perished badly. Caught it before any disaster occurred and a...

Re: 2.9 BOB Cosworth 24v ECU / MAF

Have you confirmed Coolant temperature sensor values? They play a part in start up enrichment, effectively telling the ECU it needs “choke”. You should be able to find values for it’s output hot/cold to see if it’s responding correctly. Then check the rest of the items you’ve listed, they can all st...

Re: Spongey spoiler

Pretty sure someone used peanut butter at one point? Have to be the smooth and not if you live near squirrels. :xd: But tbh, AG is the best bet. I don’t want a herd of squiggles chasing me around chewing lumps out of the spongey spoiler! Or to invite mice to dinner whilst it’s stood. I thin...

Anyone got a sure fire super duper way to make the spongey spoiler look all shiny and black again? Mines looking somewhat a shadow of its former self.

Unfortunately I don’t have a spare but how do you race a rocker box top? Fling it as far as you can? Stick it on a roller skate at the top of a hill? :?:

Side window trims

Afternoon all. Quick question. How do the side window trims come off? I want to start stripping it ready for it’s respray and the body shop said I have the option to save myself some beer vouchers and do the strip down of trim. If they’re a royal pain in the lower back area I’ll leave it to the prof...

Re: Decal and badge

It wouldn’t be cheap but you should be able to have one made at a sign makers. They should be able to cut anything out of vinyl but you will pay for the privilege, that’s if you can find stripe width. Or you can take educated guesses from photos, mock up a range of stripes in paper and see which siz...
