Right , just a quick update, see if this guides anyone a bit nearer to solving my issue. It is currently stuck in 5th gear , although I can get it into neutral , but it will not come back across the gate, so I can select reverse, thus enabling me to drive the pin out of the rear on the gear selector...

Yeah loosened off completely...It was seized , and snapped a lower collared bolt getting it off, but everything freed off and the alternator taps up against the block quite easily . .
The old belt is quite Knackered ... lost more teeth than Nobby Stiles ...

Yeah the one I ordered was the 6263MC, and on their site (Tickover) it lists it as being suitable for both 1.6 & 2.0 . The one currently on is a Quinton Hazel 914. Might just have to put it on the rack and pre stretch it :lol: . If it still won't go on I may just have to get a slightly longer on...

I have just taken my first delivery from Tickover and the fan belts are branded Gates. Now I don't have a problem with that , someone has to make them and the quality is good by the look and feel of it. But ....I am sure it is way too short ... or is it me being a bit slow for want of a better way o...
