Re: Capri Rally And Party Weekend 1st 2nd 3rd July

Huw + Mrs Huw.

No promises ... it's been a sodding hectic 12 months (first time I've logged in here in forever) but I'll do all I can to support the event.

No Capri yet ... but the E39 M5 stops me crying too hard about that!

understeer - the front of the car hits the barrier first
oversteer - the back of the car hits the barrier first

Looks like someone suffered from understeer fail.

Huw - never knowingly understeered.

Re: NEW capri

If Ford were to give another car the "Capri" tag i would expect it to be a modern interpritation of the original. Not specifically in styling, but more in ethos. A powerful, rear wheel drive coupe which is sharply styled and good value for money. :)

Re: small questian regaurding a 2lr capri

To clarify ... You'll be 21. You'll have owned your driving licence 1 year. You'll have 1 year's NCB (assuming you don't stuff your car into something expensive in the next 10 months) You want a Capri with a modern 2L engine installed. You want to know how much your insurance will be? Sorry to sound...

The wheels on the Granny look great ... but too small for a Granada.

Would look badass on a Sierra.

Re: Capri with a Diesel engine, possible?

I don't know for certain, but the other engines in the BMW e36 & e34 range have front bowl sumps. However as the block's identical maybe an Omega or Land Rover Discovery sump might be a better fit. Power & Torque vary depending on spec. In the BMW there's a 115bhp TD (non-intercooled) and 14...

Another person who only has good things to say about Capri Gear. Many years back now I needed a few tiny odds & sods to finish a 2.8 front brake conversion on my 2.1. No other breaker wanted to know. Martin just told me to send a Stamped Addressed Envelope to him, he'd bung the bits i needed in ...

Re: Capri with a Diesel engine, possible?

I've seen it done with both the Sierra 1.8TD and 2.3D engines. If i was gonna do it, I'd use the M51 lump from BMW. 2.5L straight 6 turbo diesel. Cheap as chips (used in BMW e36 3-series, e34 5-series, Vauxhall Omega & Land Rover Discovery). Runs for intergalatic milages without a rebuild. Happy...

OK - I'm a few years out of date on the current regs. It was only a matter of time before they relented and allowed fuel injection.
