Re: Sorry about my misfire threads BUT I FOUND OUT WHAT CAUS

Could be carby, accelerator pump diaphragm or blocked/dirty power jets, crap in fuel bowl, or wrong float level set. Tricky to diagnose but the symptoms are similar to what I had happen before I changed the 32/36 weber to a 38dgas.the 32/36 I stripped & reset float level ( with new float needle ...

Re: Mk3 Capri Quick Rack

I believe the Mk1 Escort quick racks do fit the Capri steering rack there are 2 types a long and a short pinion ,the Long pinion is the one you need and I think the ratio is 2.5 turns lock to lock. I am sure Rally Design still have them available and Burtons list them in their 2012 catalogue page 13...

Re: Sierra brake bias valve angle for Caprisport 280 kit

I may be wrong , but the valve should be mounted ( if you are using the Sierra bracket) so that the mounting screws are horizontally parallel to the chassis (or near as ) because the valve is then at the correct angle to work, if you mount it so the valve is horizontal it is already shutting fluid o...

Re: whine when accelerating.

Sounds more like exhaust , one of the baffles in the muffler could be flapping about and periodically will actually block the flow of exhaust and the "Bang" is actually a small backfire. The whistle is the exhaust being restricted as it passes through the faulty area of the muffler. If you...

Re: Help diagnose my whining diff...

Nooo! dont sell the Lsd even if it cost you 500 quid to fix it is well worth hanging on to,it wont be the crown wheel & pinion that is failing, only the bearing on the pinion (at worst) Logic dictates that when you get it apart you will be able to tell which of the bearings need replacing. With ...

Re: Weber 32/36 DGAV Baseline Settings

Sounds like float needle stuck, which is flooding so you could say it is overfueling. The float needle tip is easily damaged and over time can wear a ridge into the rubber / nylon tip, and so it sticks , sometimes so no fuel is getting through , but more commonly sticks when too much fuel gets throu...

Re: Smoke

Crankcase ventilation valve (PCV) if this is not working or sticky it can do this sort of thing ,problem is that if the pressure builds up too great then it blows the valve stem seals off the valves, these can be refitted in place, so you are up for a rocker cover gasket but chances are if they have...

Re: Lowering Front springs

What you need are a pair of "Keeper" or "Tender" Springs which hold the main springs in place when you jack the car up, they are fitted with a nylon or metal platform between the main spring and the top mount, thus 'keeping' the assembly located correctly. They compress almost fla...

Re: anyone got a LPG converted 2.8i capri?

LPG was a popular conversion in NZ in the '80s but mainly for the Bigger sedans that could afford to lose a bit of load space . The Ford Falcon & Holden Commodore (Vauxhall to you guys) hid the tanks in the back of the boot and could still take a couple of suitcases or set of golf clubs etc, to ...

Re: not starting again???

If you had a major enough backfire , it could have damaged the float in the fuel bowl and forced it to jam so not letting any fuel through the carb, check the float needle also. This one I know from experience with a friends 38Dgas carb, if you are using bike carbs could have damaged or jammed the s...

Re: Brake up grade

Hi Beakster, Does using the Granada Cosworth calipers mean you do not have to redrill the strut holes like you do with the Mondeo Calipers that Caprisport use?I take it you still need to fabricate a bracket suitable for the size disc. Does that also mean you can retain 13" rims? or do you still...

Usually a fairly hefty 20 or 30 amp fuse situated near ecu ,not sure what the Sa Capri used in the way of engine management most were 1600 multi point fuel injected ,with the last models in '93~94 dohc turbo -charged. Re: Mk2 Escort quick rack

Whilst the width of the rack is different ,you could take the pinion out and use it on your existing rack, providing it is what is known as the 'Long' pinion as there are two versions long & short. It could be that the escort uses the short type ,in which case without also modifying the steering...

Hi Taylor, The juddering could mean it is the centre bearing in the propshaft not actually the diff, that said it could also be the pinion bearing or a universal joint at either end starting to seize, they are still able to be serviced in NZ but if it is damaged crown wheel & pinion then you are...

Re: Essex 3.0 v6 in my 1.6 capri HELP!!!!

Crossmember from a V4 2litre will do the job , but i believe there are 2 different 3litre crossmembers (ones which have 3 mounting bolt holes) but I stand to be corrected. :)
