Many thanks for all your input; much appreciated!
I see Halford paid is the way forward.
Thanks again, all.
Best regards,
David.

Interior trim refurbishment
Wondered if anyone had a recommendation for someone who could refurbish interior plastic/vinyl trim - the likes of the centre console lid on a 2.8i. My local chipsaway guy doesn't do it; but wondered if anyone knew of a particular specialist who would be good at that, who I could send parts to. Any ...

2.8i strut inserts
Hi all, I had the front inserts of my 2.8i replaced several years ago with AVO items, as the Bilstein inserts were no longer available at that time. As Burton are now retailing Bilstein inserts, I have just had the AVOs replaced but the chap that fitted them raised a point about the insert rods bein...

Re: Injection Special seat material
Mike,
I can only apologise for not responding to you, but have had some serious family matters to deal with since making the original post.
Revisiting the forum wasn't a priority for me.
Would be happy to order material now, but I guess I have missed my opportunity.
Regards,
David.

Injection Special seat material
Wondered if anyone knows anywhere that produces material that would be close to the material used on the late model Injection Specials? The car's interior is being completely re-trimmed and re-leathered, and so something new that was close to the original material rather than good secondhand would b...

2.8i sandwich plate
Apologies if its a daft question, but what's the purpose the of the sandwich plate between the gearbox and the engine on a 2.8i? Can I ask if its necessary to have it fitted?
Many thanks and regards,
David.

Re: Standard exhaust
Many thanks for all your very helpful replies. The car has had a custom stainless steel system fitted for about the past ten years or so, but has suffered from knocking against the bodywork, and resonance coming through into the cabin at a certain number of revs, albeit the overall noise of the syst...

Standard exhaust
Looking to replace the exhaust on my 2.8i with something as close to standard sound as possible, whether that's stainless or mild steel. Wondered if anyone had any suggestions? Is the CCI one a good bet? I'd thought the Quicksilver might be a close approximation to standard, but understand they've n...

Many thanks for your responses.
I was't quite sure how the oil pressure pipe attaches to the rear of the gauge - I had it in my mind it was some form of shrink fit, but using ptfe tape in that way seems a good plan.
Best regards,
David.

Re: Refitting door and side mouldings
Many thanks for all your replies - now a little concerned! It doesn't look like there are any of the original pins left; but hopefully the bodyshop can come up with some arrangement to fit them back on such that they can be removed in the future, if needs be. Its a shame no-one ever re-manufactured ...

Refitting door and side mouldings
A part of a bodywork restoration process, the door and side mouldings have been removed and the bodyshop have filled the holes as, not surprisingly, the fixings had broken. I haven't yet asked the bodyshop how they intend to refit them, but wondered if there was an "accepted method" of fit...

Anything else to be done when the dash is out?
The interior of my 2.8i is currently being refurbished, and as part of that process, the dash is coming out and being replaced by a better one, and the wiring is being closely checked, as there be some minor issues with it following a substandard restoration a number of years ago. I wondered if anyo...

Re: Bonnet/wing panel gap
Many thanks for your reply. Given the wonders some of these guys seem to be able to do with metaI work, I kind of thought something should be possible. The car's going back into the bodyshop within the next few weeks and so I'll mention it to them. As you say, it shouldn't be much more than a slim f...

Bonnet/wing panel gap
A replacement bonnet and aftermarket wings have been fitted to my 2.8i as part of its restoration, and the car has now been painted and looks great. The panel gap between one f the wings and the bonnet isn't the best, though acceptable.Given the wing has been fitted, I just wondered if there are any...

Burton Power 2.8i gearbox
Just wondered if anyone had any experience of the type 9 re-manufactured gearbox for the 2.8i that Burton Power advertise for about £600? I think I'm right in say the lower gear ratios are slightly different from the standard ones in the 2.8i and so I wondered if it might alter the driving character...

Thanks very much, Andrew - that looks very smart!
The one I have isn't too bad, but may end up looking worse once the seats have been done.
Best regards,
David.

Centre console
My Capri 2.8i is in the process of having bodywork restoration, and the interior will be refurbished, with the seat leather and carpets renewed. I appreciate the centre console storage box lid is often refurbished in leather, but I was wondering about the centre console itself: is it possible for a ...
