Re: Rover V8 3.9 Conversion by Mc Tool
Lovely motor!! Can we have a pic of it in the car please?
As long as the tach signal from the dizzy to the ecu is clean it will run well (I found it easier setting up MS on a dizzy than when i used it with Edis8, but that's just my warped world-view) Sam

Re: V8 but which one?
my 2-cents would be - a carb & dizzy V8 will save you time & money over a modern 32v V8 that needs a programmable ECU setup iron 302/350 V8s are easily rebored +20/40/60, and a new piston & bearing set from the states won't break the bank. It's not financially feasible to rebuild a moder...

US vs UK 2.9i pistons
Has anyone used US spec 2.9i pistons (Bronco & Ranger) in a european 2.9i motor? I know the US ones are 9:1 CR vs 9.5:1 european & i'm looking for a slightly lower CR for S/C so these could be ideal Apart from the larger dish volume the specs look identical to UK sold GAE/GGE Bore 93mm Pisto...

Re: 2.8 Cologne .. can it be quick?
n/a tuning on the cologne is limited by a lack of aftermarket parts and the rods not liking high rpm, but 190-200 possible. Burton tuning guide here - http://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides/tuning-guide-pages/ford-taunus-cologne-v4-v6-tuning-guide.html But for the price vs the power gain, your bud...

wasn't GT4 was a cheap marketing theme on a standard base model with odd crimson stickers, a bit like the calypso with it's two-tone thing, underneath was a bog-standard capri?

see how much this one goes for http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pinto-engine-/111449385324?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19f2e6a96c if you have a dyno sheet for it that will help. watch Pintos, Type-9s and Atlas axles on Ebay and see how much the auction ends/sells at, it's a pretty goo...

Re: V8 32V X Pack 4 Years On !!
glad to see this is still happening,
I found parking a bit of a work-out with the standard 2L manual rack & a 200kg motor, but then there wasn't room for a P/S rack in mine.
keep up the good work!

Re: Low boost blow through
this is inspiring. if you get problems with the carb not fuelling properly then try a Renault 5 turbo carb, i've seen them still going well at over 200brake. What size is the turbo?

Re: Low boost blow through
maybe start with 20 degrees of advance and then increase it until you get detonation under full load (4th gear accelerating up a long hill) then retard it off a tad

Re: RX8 engine in a capri?
you only need proof if you are swapping to a smaller engine (that will put you in a lower tax bracket) you need confirmation from a garage that the engine is the size you say it is. otherwise we'd all be filling in that 'new engine capacity' part on the V5 with 1100cc and waiting for our tax discoun...

Re: Pinto vs zetec
That's a duratec on ebay. newer Mazda-shared design with enclosed timing chains & alloy block. (darn confusing cos they're still sometimes badged as zetecs and some late zetecs were badged as duratecs...) great motors though, potential for over 200bhp with a few mods. But an involved conversion....

welcome to the forum
belt ~40000miles. But if you don't know when it was last changed then change it anyway. It does a lot of head/valve damage when the belt breaks and is not uncommon.
plugs - NGK AP6FS or Bosch WR56.
