Yes the timing has been checked & is spot on...

All leads are on in the correct order, I made sure I changed them one at a time!

low speed judder (2.8)

Hi, I'm hoping you guys can help me out with an ongoing issue. I recently serviced the car replacing plugs, leads, cap & rotor (rev limiter one) & since then she hasn't been happy, she struggles to start sometimes cuts out but does eventually restart but runs lumpy for around 2 minutes, then...

Jasonmarie wrote:Could be coil ? If you have replaced all the old stuff and she’s still doing it you might have knock the timing out as peter has said .
Yes is was a faulty coil causing the jerking,
With a New coil she’s now running spot on.

Thanks for all the help.

Re: hesitates/jerking at low speeds

Sounds like the timing is ever so slightly out - my first point of call would be to check the points gap and that the timing gear is set correctly I had mine set to 6 degrees and it was OK, changed to 8 and made a world of difference! I had the timing & fuel pressure checked last week, all, is ...

Jasonmarie wrote:If you have kept the old stuff replace bit by bit as even new parts have faults . I would go with the leads first . Hope that helps
I've already done that, to the point of putting all the old stuff back on ! no difference

Thanks anyway

hesitates/jerking at low speeds

My 2.8 seems to hesitate/jerking at low speeds, especially around 30mph & gets worse as she warms up.

It started doing this after I replaced the Plugs, Leads, Cap & Rotor arm.

I'm not sure what's causing it, hoping you guys could help me out?

Cheers

Re: Humming noise (REAR)

The fuel pump is not entirely silent but presumably this is a noise that wasn't previously there. Check that the insulation around the pump hasn't perished and perhaps the pump touches the bracket some of the time as this is likely to amplify the sound it makes. Rear bearing is possible as well but...

Humming noise (REAR)

Yesterday morning after starting my 2.8 I noticed a humming noise coming from the rear of the car, I drove the 5 miles to work with no issues other than this humming, when I parked up at work left it on idle & the noise had stopped. After work (1600hrs) started the car & no humming noise, dr...

Re: 280 15" alloys wanted

I have set of 4x 15" 280 wheels and a 13" spare wheel from an injection Special All the wheels are in quite good shape. Purists might strip and paint them but i wouldnt. Some of the detachable centre caps could do with some paint around the locknuts where they always seem to flake. The 15...

MK3 rear screen

Hi,

A few MK3 related questions...

What year did Ford put in bonded screens?
Are bonded screens the same as non bonded?
Can a bonded screen be removed without damage?

Cheers.

Skimmed flywheel

I had the flywheel skimmed last year due to harendous clutch judder, on the garages recomendation due to scoring & pitting (it had a new borge & beck clutch kit at the same time) Since its been skimmed it doesn't change gear as smoothley as it used to, crunches in reverse & is reluctant ...
