Re: Engine Insurance

Thanks for the info.

I will try to get a car with an original 1.6 or 2.0 in it then, to save me any hassle

Engine Insurance

Just been doing some more searching around, and have noticed a lot of Capris that have had 2.0 engines put on them, but haven't been registered as a 2.0. Has anyone encountered problems with insurance companies due to this, or do they not really check, unless they are forking out of actual engine da...

Re: Who can change a capri engine round?

Thanks guys for all these great offers, I will make sure I remember you when it comes to that time.
Hopefully once I speak the some insurance providers they will guide me on what the best course of action to take is.

Re: Who can change a capri engine round?

Ive seen plenty of one for sale though that been changed from a 1.6 or are still registered as a 1.6.
Surely If it is still registered as a 1.6, then the insurance company wouldn't need know that it did have a 2.0 in it.

Who can change a capri engine round?

Ok, this may seem like a bit of an odd question to ask, but upon looking at getting a Capri, I have found plenty of 2L Pinto Capri's and not so many 1.6L ones, and the 1.6's I do find have been restored quite well and are pricey, whilst the 2 litre ones I have found are in a condition well enough to...

Re: How to rebuild a Pinto Engine?

Ok, well seeing as I want to do this all myself, I guess that using an additive is the better choice for me.

Re: How to rebuild a Pinto Engine?

In your opinion then would it be an easier build if I stuck to using an additive in the engine, or is it quite simple to fit the kit you mentioned to make it run on plain old unleaded.

Re: How to rebuild a Pinto Engine?

So is it just the fuel injection that you need to change for it to take unleaded, or are there any engine components too?

Re: How to rebuild a Pinto Engine?

Thanks for all the advice so far, I will definatley look into getting that book. And the tool list has really helped. Also a question about the Carbourettor, I know that some of the later fords used injection fuel systems, now would it be possible to place one of the fuel injection systems on the en...

Re: Engine Build from scatch

Yeah, sorry I worded it wrong, what I mean't was pretty much what Beakster said. Im looking at getting an old engine block and using old parts to get to know the engine and build it. I want to use old parts first so that hopefully I come across problems and then can learn how to fix them and replace...

Re: Engine Build from scatch

Sorry, what I mean't by a scratch build, was buy old original parts and fit them all together, so start with an incomplete pinto engine and work on it like that. It will help me get familiar with it, yet I won't have to take the engine out of a working capri and risk ruining it. So basically looking...

How to rebuild a Pinto Engine?

Hi, I am looking to learn to build a capri engine in my own time as I would love to know exactly what goes in them and how to take it to bits and put it back together. Now if you assume that I have no knowledge on engines at all, could someone kindly please provide me with a list of everything I wil...

Looking for a cheap 1.6l capri

I am looking for a reasonably cheap 1.6 capri. I am only bothered about the running condition and whether it can pass an MOT. Apart from that I don't mind on the interior condition, or the exterior too much (as long as the exterior doesn't affect the mot) Please message me with offers or post on her...

1.6 pinto and 2.8 engines

Another question has popped into my head that I am sure someone will be able to awnser. If I got as 2.8 capri, and wanted to put a 1.6 in it instead, would the change over be easy? Or will a lot of changed have to be made. Also if the Car was originally a 1.6 shell and had a 2.8 in and I wanted to d...
