Re: 1979 3.0S EOD 825T
Well it's been a while! Finally had the engine out and stripped it down. Verdict? Oil starvation to the rear two rods, dead bearings and a crank good for scrap... Brilliant. Lessons learned, i'm hopefully gonna be fitting it's freshly rebuilt original engine this morning and praying it goes to plan ...

Re: Wanted 3.0S
Hey mate, just out of interest are you the same Gary I met at Classic Ford a couple of years a go who was looking for one then? Mine was the black 3.0S on the Flux stand... If so, i've lost your number when I changed phones!

Re: 1979 3.0S EOD 825T
Haha! It wasn't idling great and i'd been making a lot of cranking and banging noises for a while, was cut short for the sake of my neighbours, i'll get a better clip from outside the car when I take it for a drive this evening after some more timing/ idle adjustment... It's sounding angry and old s...

Re: 1979 3.0S EOD 825T
Cheers! Have to say, putting the engine in on my own was not easy - would've loved some extra eyes and hands. Still, work with what you've got (and a big bar for shoving!)
MoT is booked for saturday, gonna set timing and see what happens tonight.

Re: Modified or Standard?
The Capri, just needs alot more than most to make it truly great in my opinion. I know it depends on how you use it, but for me I agree with this. Having always been told the "you need a paving slab in the back of that mate" stories of tail happiness, I was amazed by how badly mine unders...

Have just PM'd you, Kris - sounds like a great event. Would love to come and meet some fairly local owners if there's space in the corner for a slightly tatty one!

Re: Modified or Standard?
"Tastefully modified", for me. Stiffer, lower, nice set of wheels, stopping better and going quicker but done with appropriate period parts. Compomotives, tuned 3.1, Janspeed exhausts, Billies (admittedly now coilovers), Leda rear springs going on the back next... I've kept every original ...

Essex V6 Earths
Hey guys, cross-post from Capri Power, hopefully someone can help me out. Currently wiring up the engine, some idiot didn't label anything when it came out... Just wondering about earth straps on a Mk3 3ltr - i've got a fairly thin one approx 1/2" by 7" long, terminal on each end. Engine t...

Re: 1979 3.0S EOD 825T
Just managed to sneak a couple of hours spannering after work, it now has a working clutch (after adjusting about two inches out of the cable) which means it's full steam ahead for getting it running this weekend. http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm26/MattPurdon/IMG_1345.jpg And I really need a lo...

Re: 1979 3.0S EOD 825T
I did a thing yesterday, on my own, in flip flops and shorts. Started out from the front, with manifolds and fan, feeling brave. http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm26/MattPurdon/IMG_1318_1.jpg Rapidly gave up on that as everything was hitting everything else and then found out that the crane was...

Thought I was going to have the engine in over the bank holiday; http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm26/MattPurdon/IMG_6394.jpg On sunday morning I had a complete engine ready to go bar a stuck spigot bearing outer race. Monday morning it looked like this; http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm26/Ma...

"Been garaged for 20 years"
Photographed on a driveway it's clearly been sat on for a very long time... Bet it ran like a dream when it was parked too
Anything's saveable with enough time, skill and money - not sure this one will be though!
