Capri Calypso
Hello all, Putting my Calypso up for sale. Thought I'd be able to get a garage and be able to look after it, but I'm afraid it's got to go on street parking. Also started a new job that needs a bit more ease of access and storage space as a daily driver. (Its got lovely Recaro red seats with fishnet...

Re: Electronic ignition - Ballast resistor
I called up tickover and they seemed sure to not worry about the coil.
I'm also running a 1.6l pinto.

Electronic ignition - Ballast resistor
So, one of my to-do jobs is to get an electronic ignition module stuck in the car, just for the sake of reliability. I will be keeping the points in the boot, just in case, knowing my luck. Once I've figured out what module to get, I've been reading and slightly confused about the ballast resistance...

Re: Ignition barrel de sticking
Put the key in and turn it to position one. Then insert a small pin punch into the hole under the outer ignition barrel casing and push it up to take the pressure off the spring inside. Then pull the key out and the barrel comes with it. Simply soak the whole thing in WD40 or similar, work it about...

Ignition barrel de sticking
So the ignition can be such a pain to get a key into. Sometimes there will be no issues, othertimes I'll be fiddling with it for 5 minutes or more just trying to get the key in. Just had a new key cut today with the same problem. Barrel moves fine once key is in, unlocks the doors and boot fine too....

Re: Cover or storage?
I'm probably going to end up going with the garage at the mo. I'll see if I can get one a bit closer to home later on. Just drove her back from Yorkshire today, 200 miles odd and no issues. I hope that keeps it up, I'm notoriously unlucky with vehicle purchases. Also, insurance wise, got it insured ...

Re: Cover or storage?
Only the royal borough of K&c. (Not the posh bit) In the same breath, I'm waiting to hear back from my housing association about the underground garage that I live on top of, but they won't get back to be until the new year. Yeah I agree with you on the walk time. Suppose I'm just questioning th...

Cover or storage?
Hello all! Just about to invest in my first capri, a 1981 calypso. I live in london, and parking can be a massive pain for me. I've done my research, and I can either park on the road in a council parking space for about 50 squids a month, just around the corner from my flat. Or, I pay 150 squids fo...
