Re: This nob end

I agree, I'm a standard man. Assuming the black grille means it's an early mk3 I guess this would have had steelies? I wonder how popular an admittedly fairly UK styled car (albeit built in West Germany by mk3) would have been in Czechoslovakia!

This nob end

Haven't been on here in a few years but this nob end's advert came up on Youtube and I had to point out....

...there's a Capri!

No idea about Czech number plates but that's pretty cool. Assume it's a pre-Laser GL or something.

Re: wanted cheap 1.6 capri/advice :)

A mk3 1980s 'L' or Laser would probably be cheapest. You're right about engine sizes. Most important thing to look out for is rust and then service history. If it's rusty or hasn't been cared for then even if you find one for a grand (good luck!), within a year or next MOT you'll be paying more than...

Re: 280 For Sale..... well kinda!!??

A DVLA search shows that car to have not been taxed or SORN'd since 1993. No reason why an unscrupulous so-and-so couldn't pop the numberplate on his freshly painted Brooklands Green Capri and make what they call a ringer. Then sell it for decidedly more than it was worth. One wonders what happened ...

Re: Capri Electronic Ignition ... again!

Don't know if this helps but on my Mini I have a ballast system and had to wire up the + from the leccy ignition (Powerspark) to the white wire coming straight from the ignition at the fuse box. The negative went to the coil as normal. Works fine!

Re: anyone ever sued for a fraudulent MOT?

Hi mate, I can fully understand your frustration but none of the stuff on that list is particularly hard or expensive to put right, so I'd just get on with it and put it down to experience if I were you. I'm surprised you bought/bid for the car without noticing the issues, but hey that's the risk yo...

Re: Newbie looking for advice!

Agree with the above - totally usable everyday classic and it will be fine living outside. Garages are all very well but what do you do when it's been raining and you are left with a wet car to put away in the garage? Best to leave it outside to dry naturally. Anyway, don't bother with a car cover. ...

OK ok................... I said it was at idle! And I forgot to mention it's about 5mph below what it should be at speed.

Speedo doesn't sit at zero

Does anyone know why the needle on the speedo would sit at about 5mph below the clock at idle, but appear to work fine when moving?

LS steel wheel/tyre size

Hello

I've tried searching but can't find the tyre size for standard 1.6 LS steelies. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks
