Unexpected Miracle
Hello all, Sorry I haven't been very active on the forum recently, finding time is hard at the moment. As some of you will know I get married Mid May which takes up plenty of time but we are also preparing for another life changing event. At the start of May we are expecting our first child. The dat...

Rear Axle Parts Forsale
Hi all, I have a few bits and pieces forsale from my project car. I have a set of rear drums from a 1.6. These are complete drum brakes for the axle including backing plates, drums, fairly new wheel cylinders, fairly new brake shoes and all put on with a new fitting kit. I also have an open diff uni...

The new Barn Find addition to the old ford family
So the ford collection in the house has grown once again. It was at Crap, and I blame Glyn for this one, where we saw a Sierra pull up. My other half quite liked the look of it. I knew about one locally that was sort of for sale if the right person came along. Well after going to see it and seeing t...

Re: speedo stopped working
Hi, I checked the new mot rules and a non functioning speedo is a fail now. Found the problem. Took the cable off the gearbox to test if the speedo was working. About of inch of cable stayed in the box with a real rats nest on it. That explains the jumpy speedo upto 20mph as all the frayed cables we...

Re: Capri Party & Rally Weekend 2017 (30 June, 1/2 July)
Will be there. No idea on if the Capri will make it. Depends on my mot guy. Car is going much better than last year where it nearly shook itself apart on the way there and barely made it home on the battery as the alternator wasn't charging. If it passes the mot it will be there, if not then it will...

speedo stopped working
HI all, My speedo stopped working on the way home from classic ford the other week and cannot get it back working yet. I have removed the white dial kit as it had peeled off and looked like it was jamming the needle. I tested the speedo and when I turn the dial manually the needle does move. I have ...

Re: Capri Party & Rally Weekend 2017 (30 June, 1/2 July)
Getting ready. Might not get the cappa there this year. MOT might be a bit of an issue with a non working speedo and the handbrake travel with the sierra cable. If I can get a spacer pipe made up to shorten the effective travel then I might be able to get her ready. Although have lost my evenings no...

Re: what keeps halfshafts in the axle
Should be able to make it over.
Will have to see if the Capri passes an mot and is insured.
Still having a few issues as the diff still has a crumble, even after rebuild so going back to the company to talk to them about it.

Re: upgrade brakes
I had a well setup std brakes on a 3.0 ghia.
Took some fellow Capri owners put in her to show how well the brakes could stop.
Got her upto about 60 and brakes hard.
All of them thought I had after market parts on her.
Was bog standard, just I'm good working order.

Re: what keeps halfshafts in the axle
Yeah, Very good job I did check her. Very costly mistake. lol Has been about 9 months as after crap last year she came back off the road due to being pretty much undriveable. The diff was on its last legs and would pretty much shake the car to pieces above 60mph. New diff, New Brakes and alot of elb...

Re: Wanted: 2.0 brake servo
I have one if you are still after one. I just swapped mine to a 1.6 servo so that the heads will clear when I stick my cossy V6 in. Was in good working order but I don't really see much difference between the two servo types, even with the bigger calipers on the front and discs on the back. Where ar...

shortening a handbrake cable
Hi all. I am currently finishing my rear brake upgrade and the sierra handbrake cable, which I was told to buy by my poor eBay seller, is way too long. Is there a strong enough way to shorten the cable by cutting a section out of it and rejoining it together. Maybe a metal heavy duty crimp like they...

Re: upgrade brakes
Agreed. Good set of pads, mintex are really good. New discs, new rear shoes, new wheel cylinders. Flush all the fluid, use about a litre to get rid of all the old fluid then bleed up as normal. Make sure the Calipers are free moving and if not then overhaul or get recon units. If you want to cool th...

Re: what keeps halfshafts in the axle
Yes. They are all there. It was the axle went off to have a new lad unit and two piece halfshafts fitted. Then it came back and I fitted the rear disc brackets but forgot to refit the plates over the top. They are on now and all secured with spring washers and locktite now so all good there. Just ha...

what keeps halfshafts in the axle
Hi all. Bit of a noob question but been a while since I played with halfshafts. I have just swapped to a rear disc conversion and I am not sure if there should be something more than just the bearing holding the half shaft on the axle tube. Just tried to remove the hub from the shaft, after market p...

Re: 2.0's 2017 updated
Hi all. Haven't updated this in a while as the car has been largely unused due to mechanical problems and travelling. Well since then I have fitted a reconditioned type nine and had the rear axle rebuilt with all new bearings and a quaife atb. I have now fitted rear discs to the new hubs and will be...
Re: LSD
Hi, Brake upgrades I am doing on the rear is the brackets and vented discs from Caprisport, Good products, poor delivery times and customer service. Then fitting Scorpio Cosworth rear callipers to the car. Decided to change direction on the front and have just fitted 260mm discs with Wilwood Midilig...

Re: Machine shops in Reading
Thanks.
Will give them a ring and see if they can sort out the machine work for the hubs and discs.
Hopefully back on the road soon.
