For Sale - Mk1 Ford Capri 1600 XL 1973

The car you always promised yourself. This vehicle is a highly presentable classic in good condition and has been thoroughly maintained throughout my period of ownership. In fact, I have a complete record of all maintenance and repairs performed during my ownership, including invoices of parts purch...

Hazard Warning Lights

Good afternoon! I am wondering whether someone can recommend some good retro-fit hazard warning lights for the mk1 Capri? It does not appear that mine is fitted with them - presumably they were not fitted from factory on all Capris. For context, I own a 1972 1.6 XL. Any guidance on where to find a h...

Re: Mk1 Exhaust Sections

For an exhaust that will last a lifetime, that sounds like a very reasonable investment.

I will look into LongLife exhausts and find my local centre.

Thanks very much for your help!

Re: Mk1 Exhaust Sections

That is some sound advice, certainly something to consider. Heard some rumblings that custom stainless exhausts are on the pricy side though. Anyone have any previous experience?

Mk1 Exhaust Sections

Hello! I own a Ford Capri Mk1 1.6 Pinto (1972), and I am after both a rear exhaust section, and mid exhaust section. Been scouring ebay for a new exhaust, although there doesn't seem to be a lot around for the mk1. Any recommendations for where I can purchase these exhaust sections (or if anyone has...

105E Brake Drums

Hello! I am after a couple of 105E Anglia rear brake drums. This may not immediately appear too relevant to this forum... however, these are for my mk1 Capri. As I have been informed was common back in the day, it appears my rear axle has been swapped - in this case for a Ford Anglia axle. I wonder ...

Re: Capri Mk1 Rear Shoes and Drums

Yes. It has the original axle, and as it was registered on January 1st 1973, this will be fitted with either of the two original mk1 axles. Either way, they both have the same 9 inch brake drum.

Re: Capri Mk1 Rear Shoes and Drums

It is indeed. Don't think any major changes to the underpinnings at all were made for the Mk1 facelift

The engine size is a 1.6 - the later 1.6 pinto rather than the kent.

Capri Mk1 Rear Shoes and Drums

Hello fellow Capri enthusiasts, After recently purchasing some rear brake drums and shoes from eBay for my 1973 Ford Capri XL, I quickly found they did not fit. As a result, I have commenced the hunt for an alternative source for two sets of rear brake shoes, and two rear brake drums. Does anyone kn...

Re: Mk1 Indicator Flasher Unit Location

Cheers Jason, I'll give it a try, although had a rummage behind the lever and couldn't find anything. Will I have to remove the lever assembly to get to it?

Once again, thanks for your help :D

Mk1 Indicator Flasher Unit Location

Hi All, Firstly a little bit of background... I recently made the interesting decision to buy my dream first car, a Ford Capri Mk1. And the insurance wasn't even as crippling as I expected :xd: So far I'm thoroughly enjoying this introduction to classic motoring, although I've hit a snag regarding t...
