Re: Fitting kenlowe electric fan in 2.8i

Does anyone know if I can fit 2x 10A in parallel (I.e. split the live feed into two to go into the 2x 10A diodes at once) and back out as one feed into the fan?

Re: Fitting kenlowe electric fan in 2.8i

Ok yes, over run ONLY happens if fan is connected.
I’m thinking because she has a BOB ECU , somehow some leak, even 3 or 5 v may feed back and temporarily engage with the loom.
I have to say I cannot find a 20A in line diode suitable though. Just a 10A which probably will not make the fan turn on.

Re: Fitting kenlowe electric fan in 2.8i

Cheers guys! Yes it only over-runs when connected to a spare terminal in the fuse box. The 8A blew but the 16A did not. It’s a 220W model so would draw 15-17 A. I’m guessing as it’s a BOB with an EEC-IV ECU somehow residual current from the relay within the thermostat back trickles out to the fuse b...

Re: Fitting kenlowe electric fan in 2.8i

Thanks a lot Andy ! However that’s different to mine. Separate switch - ok, but may fit later. I just need to know how I can take a correct approach to a live from fuse box properly as I think I’ve not considered everything.(as above) I’m not impressed, as fan attachment rubbish (nearly ruined my al...

Re: Fitting kenlowe electric fan in 2.8i

Well from the live feed from fuse box, yes it goes through an in-line 20A fuse pod, then to thermostat then to fan. I earthed the fan to the body. It works fine, (the only thing that happened is when I took the live from a fuse spade (no7) that was an 8A it blew. But upon piggy backing a 16A (no6) t...

Fitting kenlowe electric fan in 2.8i

Hi there Fitted the kenlowe electric fan. As my battery is in the boot, due to BOB cossie, I fed it live from a spare spade on the fuse box. I also fitted an in-line 20A fuse in between this and the fan. However, since fitting, when I turn the ignition off, and take key out even, the car is still ru...

Re: Engine stalls cuts out when coming to a stop

Ok started her up from cold… ok, waited a bit till she warmed up a tad, ran a little rough but then nipped the throttle and she ran at 650 no problem. I didn’t have time to take her out . But a fella I know has found an old code reader ( mechanics / garage item) from the 90s that actually reads and ...

Re: Engine stalls cuts out when coming to a stop

Ok so I tried the gunson tester again. TBPH I couldn’t really deduce what the readings were. (Probably the user..) First thing I did was get PTFE and wrapped round the insert plug that the vacuum outlet pipe to servo sits. Then plugged it back in. No change at all. Sometimes even when hot she blips ...

Re: insurance

After my experience with Adrian flux customer service, where I was simply cut off by the girl who I’d been speaking to, after waiting 45 minutes for someone to pick up, I can honestly say I would never recommend them ever. And all I wanted was track day cover for one day, which they said they offere...

Re: Engine stalls cuts out when coming to a stop

I had a look at the connections and both ends of the vacuum pipe look ok. The one connected to the manifold was loose but when twisted or even pulled out a little, no change in revs. The connection at manifold end seemed like it was spring loaded so I didn’t pull it right off. I bought a gunson 4152...

Re: Engine stalls cuts out when coming to a stop

Thanks mate. So I switch engine off, apply brake pedal, if it’s normal a couple of pumps it should still have vacuum, but if it’s hard then it’s lost vacuum, right?

Re: Engine stalls cuts out when coming to a stop

Hi SCP440 thanks for that! I did reset the ISCV in a different way to that, using John Harrison’s guide from the Ford dealer workshop manual and Tickover is actually fine. The suspicion is (considering only seems to happen when braking to a stop) rather pointing to the servo or the lambdas I guess n...

Re: Engine stalls cuts out when coming to a stop

Ah I see - much appreciated!!
So I guess I have to get the servo out, and check inside for the diaphragm and check for splits? Is the non return valve easy to get to and replace?
Or is it more economical to replace the servo totally?

Re: Engine stalls cuts out when coming to a stop

Does this point to the brake servo as the culprit? I just checked the hose to it and it seemed ok. Does it just have the one hose? The crank case hose just runs into the cone filter, so it’s pre-MAF … not sure what it could be…😮

Engine stalls cuts out when coming to a stop

Every now and then when I come to slow down to a stop the revs go down to below 500 then often just quickly cut out. I’ve replaced ISCV, ATCS, MAF, plugs, coil pack, leads, reset idle…. Still does it. Anyone else had a similar issue? BTW she’s got a cossie BOB 24v fitted from the Scorpio.. Cheers :b...
