Re: Incurable wheel wobble (CURED!!)

Fair play with your persistence! Last time I got the alignment checked, there was basically no more adjustment left on the end of the track rod (because of how far it's lowered at the front)

Re: Modernising the Ford Capri

Rather than modernising as such, if you want to run it as a daily I would focus on security and rust prevention. Mechanically they are simple, easy to repair and fine as daily as long as you aren't doing 1000's of miles a year. If you are used to modern cars you'll be shocked how badly bodywork can ...

Re: Incurable wheel wobble

I spend ages chasing a similar thing on mine.. and to be honest I've never fully got to the bottom of it. Various things along the way have helped, but not completely eliminated it. I've just learnt to live with it and accept that 2/3rds of Capri's do it! Main thing was a buckled set of wheels - had...

Re: front wings

The last two informative posts are not filling me with confidence with picking one of the many wing suppliers/prices. It really seams like a gamble unless you're physically looking at, and handling the wings before parting with your beer tokens :headscratch: Think I'll hang on until an auto jumble ...

Re: front wings

It's not only the fit - unfortunately the swage line on repo panels is nowhere near as sharp as compared to original. It's one of those really annoying things you can't un-notice!

Re: Yet another "whats the best conversion" question! thanks

i've been in the same dillema for a while... Basically it comes down to: 1/ what you're starting with 2/ your skills 3/ how much you have to spend I came to the conclusion that the cheapest route to more power is: * Tuned pinto (if starting with a 4 pot as a base). Because - you can use the existing...

Re: TCA bushes and polyurethane VS rubber..

I was gonna use hd rubber ones, but properly fucked them up when I put them in, so ended up with polys instead.

ntcc

Is anyone a member of this Capri club/know anyone that is? A while ago i tired to get in contact with some of the previous owners from DVLA old address details, but i never got a reply from anyone. Strange considering it's had about 13 owners - I thought i might have got something! It's got a ntcc.o...

thanks - that was exactly what I needed to know! I've come across weber carbs with a return before, so figured that some non-injection tanks must have a return...

i'd be suspicious of no MOT. If it's that good it should sail through.. the only reason I can think of for not putting it through is if he knows it needs work...

What's the different about 2.8i tanks?

it is just that they have a return feed to them?

I know everyone after them for their 24 conversions, so just curious if they is an alternative?

Re: opinions on rust preventers, hammerite an stuf

Well for the underside I would recommend using Jenolite or Kurust to kill of all the nasty stuff followed by a good coat of Isopon Zinc 182 Primer then finished off with Waxoyl underseal. Did some welding and repairs on my old 2.0 Ghia Cortina 10 + years ago and apparantly she is still as good toda...
