Re: Wandering Timing Magical Mystery!

Thanks gents, will report back when I can! If you remove the belt cover (if you have one?) then slowly turn the bottom pulley using a suitable socket you may be able to see the belt riding up the top of the cam sprocket then falling back again. That's how I found mine. That was on a GT4, wonder if ...

Re: Wandering Timing Magical Mystery!

How tight is the belt tensioner? I had one once where the numpty before me had levered the tensioner as tight as they could, rather than letting it settle into a natural position. It held the belt tight against the top pulley for too long and gradually would lift the belt out of the tooth and into t...

Re: Mk3 door removal

Hi Tim, You can punch the pins through but the top one is a faff. I always took the door off by unbolting the hinges from the A-pillar. It's not that difficult to realign it, especially if you don't disturb the catch on the B-pillar so you can close it and kind of nip it up roughly to start with. Tw...

Re: Windscreen washer not working

The windscreen washer is alive once again. It was simply the male spade connector on the side of the fuse box needing a good clean. Ner ner ne ner ner! Told you so. :xd: But seriously, glad it was a simple fix for you and that even after all these years without a Capri, I can still remember some th...

Re: Windscreen washer not working

Thank you all for your advice on what to check. I will be trying to resolve it this week and will update you all as the car has the first MOT since 2013 on Friday so I need to fix it before then and I'm cutting it a bit fine. Thanks again all. Start with a 12v supply straight to the pump as I sugge...

Gents, I'm doing my best to help this chap out and you're hiding all my helpful posts with your somewhat xenophobic humour (oops! humor) :D Not only that but the OP is in the UK (getting an MOT!) and it was just someone's answer that set you all off in the wrong direction. Honestly! Some days I just...

Re: Windscreen washer not working

The lead in the loom sets off from one of the external spade connectors on the fuse box. Does it - ah so not the multiplugs like I said, that makes it easier, but I'd clean anything connector like. Isn't there connections under the fusebox too? Might be worth attending to them, but as they are insi...

Re: Windscreen washer not working

The lead in the loom sets off from one of the external spade connectors on the fuse box. Had a similar issue many moons ago, but I was actually seeing 12v at the motor? Turns out the spade connector was corroded. I'm no electrickery whizz but apparently volts is no good without amps. Cleaned up the ...

Why would Highway Patrol have a small engined Capri though?
Seems a bit pointless if you're chasing all those big old V8s.

(Flat bonnet, in case you're wondering what I'm on about)

Also not sure that jelly on the roof would survive a high-speed pursuit. :xd:
