Re: What a touch !!!

Should have held out for the Ghia ones with the extended black trim that folds around the end.
Still the common old cheap ones will do for now I guess. :D

Re: Annual camping weekend - 30 June , 1 & 2 July

I have a couple of bits of Capri memorabilia. I'll bring them with me.
6' x 4' Ford Flag, two coal models and a pewter 2.8i.

Hopefully that will make up for me arriving in a BMW Z4. Not sure which one yet, currently got four :xd:

Re: What is this?! RAF Sculthorpe exploration

On the subject of ricochets (and various other Irishmen) we always felt a little uncomfortable when they stuck the nukes on the Tornados on the last day of exercises. As we initially fitted live ones both we and the RAF Policeman assigned to the HAS were live armed. At that point we still had SLRs w...

Gents you are going to find it a tad noisy, being a stone's throw from Snetterton the weekend the classic motorbikes are there.

Re: What is this?! RAF Sculthorpe exploration

Tom, I think you are correct. Always have somewhere safe to point your weapon during NSPs. (Normal Safety Precautions) As to why it is up instead of down, no idea, except it leaves the floor clear for storing stuff. However, the guard commander (been there, done that) is responsible for checking the...

Date is somewhat fluid atm the it seems, though first weekend in July is being promulgated.
It involves a field, tents, beer, bbq and lots of pointless chat as far as I can make out.
In other words, every ex-serviceman's dream :D

Will be there even if I have to push start it  Tom I think the last time we met was 13th July 2011. I am looking forward to seeing you again in much happier circumstances. I may even bring a tent and partake of an ale with you. (Unless you're still on the Cinzano and lemonades of course? :xd: )

Re: Remove Caliper - Fluid Loss

Yeah, you can still do it with a bigger bit of poly bag so it goes round it. Hi Martin, do you mean allow the poly/clingfilm, etc. to 'sag' underneath the level indicator/gubbins, so you have a sort of U shape in effect, which then comes up and out under the cap/threads. Yes. I wouldn't trust cling...

Re: Remove Caliper - Fluid Loss

Well I stand corrected but I've still never had success with that method. Not much use on a master cylinder reservoir cap with a fluid level indicator I would have thought, Yeah, you can still do it with a bigger bit of poly bag so it goes round it. The system has to be sealed to stop leaks, so tha...

Re: Remove Caliper - Fluid Loss

It would be about as effective as the other old wive's tale of putting clingfilm over the reservoir. Call me an old wife then, as I've done that countless times since I first started back on my old Mk1 Escort. Fill the reservoir to the brim then a poly bag under the cap and do it up tight. Basic ph...

Re: Penetrating Oil

WD40 is not penetrating oil it is Water Displacement fluid and it was the 40th formula, hence the name. Just for the record, I agree with your definition of the original WD40, however the name has now become generic for more products in their range and they now do a Penetrating Oil in spray form as...
